Zelma Johnson
Zelma Lois Johnson, 88 years of age, passed away on March 15, 2020 in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 12, 1932 in Palestine, Texas to Annie Kate & Henry Newton Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ray, brother Henry Newton Davenport & husband Eugene G. Johnson. She is survived by her daughters Phyllis Tomasino & husband Lynn & Karen Mills & partner Steve Garcia. She is also survived by her granddaughters Alicia Nicole Mills & Kate Alexandria Tomasino, and numerous family members & friends. After completing high school, she attended Nixon Business College. In January 1952 she married the love of her life, Eugene. Eugene & Zelma were married for 64 years. Zelma was a homemaker first, then started working for ExxonMobil where she retired in 2002. Zelma was a true Christian woman. She would say she felt so blessed by God to have had such loving parents, a wonderful husband, children & grandchildren in bad times as well as good times. She thanked God for all of these things all the time

My thoughts and prayers to Zelma’s family. I worked with Zelma at ExxonMobil and we have been friends for over 30 years. She was a wonderful person and loved her family and friends. She missed Gene so much and remembered all the memories they cherished together. We always enjoyed our lunches and catching up. She will truly be missed. Love you and miss you my friend!!
Prayers for God’s comfort and peace for all family! Enjoyed working with Zelma for several years at ExxonMobil Chemical. Zelma was such a delightful lady to be around!! Her joy-filled laughter is one thing about her in my memory. Know she now stands before Jesus full of laughter, love and joy!
