Yvonne E. Dixon
Yvonne E. Dixon was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 2, 1947 and grew up in in South Philadelphia, PA. Yvonne passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2015 at MD Anderson Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Napolean Bonapart and Zelda Dean (Firsby) Dixon. Ms. Dixon graduated from Williams Penn High School for Girls and followed by graduating Lee Canning College
Yvonne worked for Children Protective Service for 33 years, where she had countless friends before she retired in 2014 due to her illness.
She was an incredible person and loved spending time gardening. She also loved to travel and shopping. Yvonne enjoyed baking, and eating at different restaurants, and simply spending time with her friends and family.
Ms. Dixon is preceded in death by her parents, Napoleon and Zelda Dixon and sister, Zelda Mae Dixon.
She is survived by her daughter, Shanza Walker; nephew, Edgar Dwayne Thomas Sr.; great nieces and nephews: Zinia Thomas, Zmae Thomas, Edgar Swayne Thomas Jr.; friends: Patricia Johnson, Jessalyn Allen, Melissa Williams and Mary Broussard.
There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland.
In lieu of flowers, family request that donations be made to: St. Jude for Lupus or Cancer Treatment of America.
She was a second Mom to me, I missed the long talks on the phone and always giving me great advice on to deal with problems that I had, I will always love you.
