Woodrow “Woody” Silvertooth
Woodrow (Woody) Silvertooth Jr., 84, of Texas City passed away on Friday November 15, 2024 at his home in Texas City. Woody was born on August 5, 1940 to Woodrow and Barbara Silvertooth in Prairie Hill, Texas.
Woody graduated from Mart High School in 1959. He was a resident of Texas City for 62 years. Woody worked as a maintenance manager for various companies at the Monsanto and Sterling Chemical plant. He retired from Raytheon Engineers in 2002.
After retirement, Woody used his many talents to help rebuild Memorial Lutheran Church which had been destroyed by fire. Woody was a long time member of the church and served in many capacities as a leader of the church. He was a 60 year Pipefitter 211 member and enjoyed his favorite holiday – Mardi Gras – as a member of the Galveston Krewe of Gambrinus.
Woody is preceded in death by his parents, sister Dolores Montgomery and brother Robert “Blondie” Silvertooth. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Debora and 2 sons, Rick and Gary Silvertooth. He also leaves 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Woody is also survived by a brother, Eugene Silvertooth and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12:00, preceded by a visitation at 11:00 at Memorial Lutheran (Mem1) church in Texas City. A reception will follow the services at the church. The family requests any donations be made to Mem1 Church Building Fund.
