William “Mike” Michael Clay
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of William (Mike) Michael Clay. Mike passed away on March 16th in Webster, TX at the age of 69.
He was born on November 03,1955 in the state of Ohio to Ethal Raye Sidebottom and Joseph Adam Clay, who have preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Lynn Kerfoot-Clay; His children, Michael Joseph Clay, Christina Raye Clay, Hayden Adam Clay, Kristen Ann Presswood, Jordan David Kerfoot and Kelsey Rae Kerfoot; His grandchildren, Scott, Lily, Jacob, Alex, Harper, Willow, Melody and Olivia; And many other family members and friends.
At the young age of 19, Mike joined the U.S navy to serve his country. He served during the Vietnam war as an “A-ganger” on the USS George C Marshall. He received many commendations during his service, including the prestigious SSBN Deterrent Patrol Insignia and remained in the reserves after his tour.
Mike later attended the University of Texas in Austin, earning degrees in both chemical and structural engineering which he utilized during his careers with both GE Oil and Gas and General Dynamics.
His love for his country did not end with his military tenure. He was a member of the American Legion post 490, VFW and the USSVI. He loved volunteering with these groups and counselling his fellow brothers battling PTSD.
Beyond his military career and community work, Mike loved spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren and cheering on the Houston Astros with his loving wife.
Memorial services will be held at Crowder Funeral home in Webster, TX on Saturday, March 29th at 2:00 PM; Viewing at 1:00 PM.

Thank-you for sacrificing your life so that I could live in freedom. The ripples from those sacrifices during the Vietnam war are stronger than ever today in the lives of veteran families. We experience its impact daily and will continue long after Hero’s like you are gone to speak its secrets.
