Warren Butler


Warren Butler formally of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, born September 29, 1931 in Bronx, New York, passed away on March 7, 2019.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Butler, of 66 years. He is survived by his sister, Sr. Virginia Marie Butler, OP of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his sons, David Butler (Jeanne) of El Dorado, Arkansas and Michael Butler (Criss), James Butler and John Butler (Amy) from the Houston area of Texas. Also, daughters, Debbie Trabanino (Robert), Robin Bragg, Laurie Tragni (Dan) and Carole Page (Rodney), also from the Houston area. Warren was the proud Papa of 22 grandchildren and soon to be 25 great-grandchildren.
Warren served his country in the Navy for four years. He joined Grumman Aerospace, first as a plane captain and then as a safety engineer working on projects including the Apollo-Lunar Module. He and his wife moved their family to Las Cruces, New Mexico for the space program until man first landed on the moon. He concluded his career with Grumman in Houston, Texas.
He loved his 20+ years of retired living in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, where he was a championship player of horseshoes, and enjoyed golf, fishing, wood working, playing cards with friends and serving as an usher at Sacred Heart of Jesus church.
Until the very end of his life, Warren was a true gentleman and demonstrated the importance of duty, honor and family. He was a wonderful husband, Dad and Papa.
There will be a Funeral Mass held at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 3131 El Dorado Blvd., Houston, TX 77059 on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 10:30 am.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Sisters of Peace, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, Ohio, 43219.
Warren’s children will miss their many camping adventures, slide shows, weekend breakfasts and, of course, Papa’s famous pizza.
