Walter Martin Sralla,
Walter Martin Sralla, 98, of Houston, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Texas City. Walter was born April 2, 1919, in Taylor, Texas, to Frank and Mary Sralla. Walter lived in La Marque for many years before his stay in Texas City.
He served in the United States Army in the Asian Pacific Theater, during WWII. Walter was a member of the Abundant Life Christian Center, and was successful furniture upholster. A business he ran with his son Martin and daughter- in-law, Donna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Juanita Elizabeth Sralla; one son: Martin Sralla; and one brother: Alvin T. Murphy. Walter is survived by a son: Kirk Sralla and wife Teresa of Houston; a daughter-in-law: Donna Gentry of La Marque; a sister: Ruby Pittman; two grandchildren: Juanita Elizabeth Ivy-Sifuentes and Robert of Texas City, Jeannie Gentry of La Marque; six great grandchildren: Kaela Ivy, Cheyenne Ivy, Gage Owens, Huntre Ivy, Kade Owens, and Ariel Owens; one great-great grandchild: Ahri Merida-Ortega. Walter enjoyed giving his granddaughters a hard time, calling them “OLD MAIDS” and loved spending time with great grandchildren, especially teaching them how to draw.
He also enjoyed fishing and drives on the Texas City Dike. He will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Houston National Cemetery, with the Houston VFW District 4 Cypress.
A sweet,crusty guy who had a great love of fishing and teasing people.He will be missed.God bless his soul.
