Vergie Lee Perry, 84, of Bellville, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014. Vergie was born August 26, 1929, in Lee County, Texas, to Bill and Winnie Winters. Vergie was very active in her community of Hitchcock. Vergie was a lifetime member and Past President of the Ladies Axillary Post 5400, organized the Hitchcock Band and the Santa Fe Twirlers, and active with the Battleship Texas Restoration. She was very active at her Lutheran church and member of the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department. Vergie is preceded in death by her parents and son Charles Spencer. She is survived by her husband: Autman J. Perry, Jr. “Country”; three daughters: Nancy Smith and Garry, Gayle Moore and Frank, Janet Thompson and Gary; two sons: Autman “Tim” Perry and Martha, Keith Perry; seven grandchildren: Michael Thompson, Craig Smith, Stephen Smith, Jennifer Donovan, Christopher Smith, Keith Moore and Elizabeth Perry; and nine great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, August 25, 2014 at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at the funeral home, with Rev. Wayne Clements officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas. Memorials can be donated to Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department and/or Genevieve Miller Library.
