Troy Holmes Herrin
On September 09, 2024, Troy Holmes Herrin, age 60, of Houston, TX lost his battle with COPD. Troy was born on June 17, 1964 in Baton Rouge, LA, to parents Joseph and Sheila Herrin, III.
Troy spent much of his youth in Louisiana, Texas, and Alaska. His love of the outdoors was nurtured by his time spent in Crosby, Texas and in Fairbanks, Alaska. He astonished all who knew him with his innate ability to identify birds from a short tweet half a mile away.
Troy was a man of many talents. In his youth, he weathered the frozen tundra of bitter cold winters in Alaska, including working on fishing boats and in a salmon cannery. From there he went on to work in the freight forwarding / Oil and Gas industry.
Troy loved traveling, meeting new people, and engaging in different cultures. Both his career and vacation choices took him across the globe to places many will never experience. U.A.E., Iraq, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia are just a sampling of his diverse travels. He was also happy to point out that he had visited every state in the USA. Among his favorite states was New Mexico, as he once dreamt of retiring to the mountains of New Mexico.
Of all of Troy’s accomplishments, his most proud was that of being a father. He adored his son, Jordan Herrin. Jordan was the highlight of his life. He shared his love of baseball with his son, often coaching the team.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Herrin, III, mother, Sheila Helen Peck Rogers, Brother, Sean Bartlett Herrin, M.D., step-mother, Vicki Herrin.
Left to cherish his memory are his step-mother Linda Herrin, beloved son, Jordan Herrin and wife, Elisa, sister, Holly Herrin Ulbrich (Brian), three grandchildren Isaiah, Alayna, and Ellyanna Herrin, four nieces and one nephew, and many friends.
Troy grew closer to the Lord in his last days on earth and never parted ways without first sharing that he prayed for his family and friends.
A Memorial is scheduled for November, with more details to come.
Troy was a free spirited child, one who loved the outdoors and loved to roam the woods… He loved visiting my parents’ home in Atlanta, TX and embarked on daily adventures on their property. Troy and Sean were often at odds, but also the best of buds during their youth… Troy’s combination of mischief and fun, often drove the grown-ups to distraction- yet, made everyone laugh at his antics as well! He enjoyed playing football as a young child, then changed to soccer- while living in Beaumont, TX- where he and Sean attended a Catholic school, run by nuns… Not one to sit idly by, Troy’s imagination soared and he proved to be quite a challenge for those whom were empowered to guide and mold the young minds under their tutorage. In truth, Troy was just so full of LIFE that his mind was always working over-time- he loved having fun and making people laugh- thus the pranks he pulled on those around him. He wanted to experience life to the max everyday, which to my way of thinking- he pretty much did. Now he’s with God, in Heaven- and, I’m sure he, Sean, and their dad are enjoying a good laugh together, as they remanence about all their shared LIFE experiences along the way! May God give each person peace, esp. Holly and Jordan, who miss his smiling face, his wit, his humor- and, his deep resounding laughter!
