Timothy “Tim” Mahlon Daggett
Timothy Mahlon Daggett (known to all of his family and friends as Tim), 70, peacefully passed away on January 1, 2025, in Houston, TX. He was born on August 16, 1954, in Schenectady, NY to Beverly and Sheldon Daggett. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Lowville, NY where he spent his childhood, and met many lifelong friends. He loved telling stories about his adventures growing up in the Adirondacks. Tim graduated from Lowville Academy and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY.
Tim worked for almost 40 years at Lockheed Martin in their aerospace program. First in New Orleans (where he met his wife, Melissa, and raised a family), then Denver, and finally in Houston. He was very proud of being part of the space shuttle program and then the Orion project. After retiring, his passion became working with the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) to educate the public about World War II aviation. Tim was a colonel with the CAF and became a flight engineer, working with several wing groups including the Gulf Coast Wing, Houston Wing, and Big Easy Wing. He spent many happy days working and flying on the planes, in particular the B-17G Flying Fortress “Texas Raiders.” Tim looked forward every year to the Wings Over Houston Airshow, as a spectator and as a volunteer.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Melissa; daughters, Julianne and Christina; son, Michael; sister, Kerry; several nieces, a nephew, and his granddog, Scout. He loved being around family and friends, meeting new people, and talking (much to his family’s chagrin at times).
A memorial will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 12:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E. Medical Center Blvd., Webster, TX 77598. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Tim’s memory may do so to the Gulf Coast Wing of the CAF or the National World War II Museum.
Dear Melissa and family,
Remembering wonderful times growing up on Church Street, with Tim and his family!
Remembering all the times we spent with you and your family here in New Orleans!
You were the LOVE of his life and he was so proud of his family!
Likewise, Tim was passionate about his career in the aerospace industry and the city of New Orleans which he called home for decades. He made significant contributions to both and is leaving a wonderful legacy for his family.
His memory will live on with fondness in our hearts!
