Thomas Enoch Boyd, Jr
Thomas Enoch Boyd, Jr., 62, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 in Texas City, Texas after a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 21, 1954 to parents Elnora Marie Wilson and Thomas E Boyd at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Growing up he was called Tommy.
The following year the family would move to west Texas City where Tommy attended Queen of Peace Catholic School and then the La Marque Public Schools. He graduated from La Marque High School with the class of 1972. Tommy was involved in Boy Scouts and he liked playing baseball and basketball. After high school he attended College of the Mainland where he earned his Associates degree in Drafting and Design Technology. Tommy then achieved his goal of attending the University of Texas in Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design in 1978. While there he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. After college, Thom, as he liked to be called then, worked in the Austin, Houston and Galveston areas, mainly in interior design and related areas. While in Galveston he was a member of the Krewe of Aquarius. Thom enjoyed drawing, mainly religious themes and water color landscapes. Thomas, as he preferred to be called in recent years, was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque.
Thomas is preceded in death by his mother, Elnora Boyd, maternal grandparents Frank and Nora Wilson, paternal grandparents Lorene and Wilmer Everts, and Fred Boyd, and uncle Frank L. Wilson, Jr.
He is survived by his dad, Thomas E. Boyd, brother, Ronald J. (Ronny) Boyd and his wife Laura, nieces Kathryn, Melissa and Taya Boyd and nephew Bryan Boyd, aunt Helen Wilson and cousins Dan and Terri Wilson and their family.
A visitation will be on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. A Graveside Service will be on Friday at 1:00pm at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas with Father Chacko Puthumayil officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church of La Marque or the Charity of your Choice.
I sure am going to miss that Guy! A friend for 44 years!
