Thad “Pat” Kerry, Jr.
Thad “Pat” Kerry, Jr. (76), passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Houston, Texas. He was born on July 1, 1945 in Derry, Louisiana to Thad Kerry and Melissa Vallery Kerry. Pat is survived by his two sons, Patrick Kerry and wife Erin of Friendswood, Texas and Luke Kerry and wife Rachel of Seabrook, Texas; sisters, Ruth Kerry, Velaria Hanson and husband Roy, and Theresa Primm; brothers, Kenneth Kerry, Robert Kerry and wife Nela; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Evangeline, David and Nathaniel Kerry; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Thad and Melissa Kerry; brothers, Rath Kerry, Shelby Kerry, and Scotty Kerry.
Pat was a dedicated Elder of the Apalachee Indians Talimali Band. He regularly traveled to attend meetings in Louisiana and advocated for their recognition as a tribe.
Pat was a hard worker and jack of all trades, instilling those traits in his sons. He worked in the railroad industry and food service industry in his younger years. He went to work for Sunbeam Bread Company as a driver where he worked for many years. Pat worked in a machine shop and as a maintenance worker at his own apartment complex. In 2010, he retired and moved to Friendswood, Texas. He had a passion for sports and loved to watch the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, LSU and the New Orleans Saints games. He also loved game shows, especially Family Feud. Pat loved people and never met a stranger. He was kind and generous and wanted to help people in need. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a joke. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed a good family dinner.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home located at 111 East Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. An additional memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00 am at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home located at 848 Keyser Ave, Natchitoches, Louisiana, 71457. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Burial to follow at Emmanuel Family Cemetery in Chopin, Louisiana.
I loved how Pat always had a smile on his face, a story to tell, and open arms to hold his grandchildren.
