He is survived by his wife, Brenda Byrd, his mother and step-father Jesse Mae and T. Ray Garland, and his step-mother Bertha Byrd, his children, Amanda Byrd Peri, Shawn Byrd and his wife, Jennifer Byrd, his grandchildren Mikayla Peri, Ashlyn Peri, Jacob Peri, Jason Chaviers, Jacob Chaviers, Lauren Chaviers, and Layne Byrd. Mike was also due to be honored in a couple of weeks in giving away his granddaughter, Mikayla, to his future grandson in law, Ayden Rios.
He was blessed with many siblings: Gary Byrd and his wife Debby, Jerry Byrd, Jesse Ray Garland and his wife Anna, Mark Garland and his wife Cheryl, Cheryl Ann Bogner and her husband Michael, Diann Crawford and her husband Jon, Renee Forte and her husband Larry, and Enola Byrd. He so loved his family to include in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and his many friends.
Services will be held at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 E. Main St, League City, TX 77573. Brenda, Amanda, and Shawn will receive friends and family on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 3pm and services will begin at 4pm. In lieu of sending flowers, Mike would have wanted donations made, for the sake of his grandchildren, to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or the Epilepsy Foundation.

I am so sorry for your loss. My brother-in-law Bill called me and told me about Mike’s passing this evening. His daughter Valerie saw the post on Facebook and called him. I just want you to know that I am very sad for all of you and know how hard on you this is. Please give me a holler if there is anything that I can do for you or help you with. Much love to all of you. Your cousin, Suzi
I worked at belknap for just a short two years but I can say that for the time that I was there every time I came across Mr. Mike he always had a smile on his face and greeted me with a warm welcome. With some people you can see the light that they cary and Mr. Mike was one of those people. I know that God has a place prepared for him and as we believe in our Lord Jesus Christ we also believe in his promises. He teaches us that this life is not the end but he is preparing a place in his fathers home. He also goes on to tell us that those that are passed on have not died but are actually only asleep In Christ. Praise the Lord. My prayers are with the family and friends and my heart is with y’all though this hard time. He will be missed but there is hope you will see him again.
My condolences
I met Mike almost 10 years ago when he hired me to work at Belknap. He was not only my boss but a friend, and advisor.
Mike would make time to talk with you work or personal. He
will be deeply missed by me and my crew. May he shine as
brightly in heaven as he did here.
I have known Mike for quite a few years and I always enjoyed visiting with him. The last time I spoke with him he told be he looked forward to his retirement, now with
Christ he will get to.
My condolences to the family and please know he will always be with you forever.
