Sylvia Ann De La Garza Tellez, 62, of Texas City, Texas passed away Friday, November 17, 2023. She was born December 11, 1960 in Victoria, Texas to the late Vicente De La Garza, Sr.  and Josephine Ruiz De La Garza.

She is survived by sons, Christopher John De La Garza, Sr. (daughter-in-law Miriam), and Oscar Tellez both of Texas City. She is also survived by sisters Esther De La Garza-Salazar of Houston, Texas, San Juana De La Garza, Rockport, Texas and Patricia Martinez of Sugar Land, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was a grandmother to five beautiful grandchildren; Christopher John De La Garza, Jr. and Olivia Guadalupe De La Garza of Alice, Texas, Iliana Juliet De La Garza, Nathan Abiel De La Garza, and Dominic Daviel De La Garza of Texas City.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jose Guadalupe Tellez, Sr. and beloved son Jose Guadalupe Tellez, Jr.; father Vicente De La Garza, Sr., mother Josephine Ruiz De La Garza, brothers Thomas De La Garza and Vicente De La Garza, Jr.

Sylvia loved to dance cumbias and wapangos. Music brought her great joy. Her refried beans were the best. She possessed an inner strength.

We miss you. Your flight is swift, but effortless. The Light, The Joy, The Love. You are now at peace as you journey home. You are now free. Your mommy awaits her little girl with love and open arms.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm at the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque with the Celebration of Life at 6:00pm with Deacon John Carrillo officiating.
