Steve “Sandy” Davis Jr.
Steve “Sandy” Davis Jr. was a larger-than-life and caring father, husband, papa, brother, and friend. He left this world for his heavenly home on January 22, 2022, at the age of 75 in League City, Texas.
Sandy was born on September 11, 1946, in Beaumont, Texas to Mary Elizabeth Davis and Steve Davis. He was the oldest of two children. D-Ann Berry was his little sister who he loved to tease but relied on for her steady support throughout his life.
Sandy grew up in Liberty, TX, and called it home even though he eventually moved away. Sandy graduated from Liberty High School in 1965. Sandy kept in touch with all many of his high school friends and they would get together regularly. Sandy attended Lamar University in Beaumont, TX.
Sandy married Betty Jean Jacobs on Thanksgiving Day in 1967 and they had two children together, Jared and Jason. Together they made their home in Liberty, Texas City, and eventually settled in League City. Sandy was forever a salesperson and through his quick-witted humor and personality could possibly sell ice in the North Pole. He worked for Acme Brick for the majority of his profession and won many awards for Top Salesperson. He loved going for drives with family and pointing out brick he had sold on different houses and would name the colors of brick.
When Betty Jean passed away from cancer, Sandy remarried his loving wife, Carol in June of 1988. They resided in the South Shore area of League City and attended South Shore Ward their married life. Carol and Sandy enjoyed going out to dinner together and visiting their grandchildren. After being baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sandy participated in and became a faithful member. Sandy had a solid faith and testimony of the plan of salvation. Sandy held many callings in the Church, including Branch President for young adults. He loved working in this capacity and excelled at having strong relationships with them. Sandy loved cooking not only for Carol but for anyone else as well. His southern dishes like his greens, potato salad, chili, and especially crawfish etouffee can’t be beaten.
Sandy leaves behind his wife, Carol, sister D-Ann Berry, sons Jared (Kimberly) and Jason (Lacee) and grandchildren, Kayla Jean Davis, Bailey Marsaw (Colin), Emmalee Davis, Anna Davis, Sarah Davis, and Tyler Davis. Sandy adored his grandchildren and loved them all. His grandchildren lovingly called him Papa. He enjoyed cooking with them, going out to eat or get a treat with them, loved teasing them, teaching them how to drive, and just spending time with them. He often said he wished all of his grandchildren could be close to him and when they moved away or went off to college, he remained close.
Sandy was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Davis and Mary Elizabeth, wife, Betty Jean Jacobs, and brother-in-law, Kenny Berry.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29th, 2022 at 11 am in the South Shore Chapel, 4655 South Shore Blvd, League City, TX 77573. A visitation will be from 10 am to 10:45 and the interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty, Texas at 4 pm under the direction of Crowder Funeral Home. My heart is so full of treasured memories of Sandy. He has been an amazing brother (in law) to me for almost 58 years. He loved my daughters and showed up proudly for all their special life events. His loyalty and devotion to his wife, Carol, was unparalleled. His resounding love for my sister, Betty Jean, bonded us together during this lifetime. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss.
We all at Acme Brick loved working with Sandy. He was a jokester, a friend and a testament to his faith. He would work late and leave us post it notes all over our desk and computers. We looked forward to walking in the next morning to all his “love” notes (we called them). Will miss him.
Im so sad to see this. Sandy was a wonderful man and a good ambassador for the church. He helped me recently after the loss of my husband. He was my ministering brother in the church and reached out to me often. I just saw him a couple weeks ago at HEB. I couldnt get to him to greet him because of thetraffic in the parking lot. He was going to his vehicle and I was leaving to go home. Bless his heart. Rest in peace, brother, til we meet at Jesus’ feet.

We were sad to hear about the passing of Sandy. Carol, Jared, Jason our prayers are with you. Sandy was a coworker and more importantly a friend to many of us at Acme Brick Company. We all love reminiscing and telling funny stories that involved our friend, Sandy.

We met Sandy when we moved next door to them about a year and a half ago. He always had a smile on his face, even through all the medical issues he’d experienced recently. Sandy was a joy to be around, and looked forward to visiting out in the front yard or talking over the phone. Sandy was an interesting, warm, caring person, full of joy, wit and humor. We will miss our lovely neighbor. Our prayers are with his family and friends who are grieving such an earthly loss. 🙏🏼

I’m so sorry to hear about Sandy’s death. Both he and D-Ann, as well as Kenny Berry were friends from childhood. My prayers are with the family.
To Carol and all the family. Sandy was such a kind and thoughtful man, he had a good sense of humor as well. He loved his family and was so proud of all of them.
