Sarah Elizabeth Herrera
Sarah Elizabeth Herrera 29, of Texas City, Texas went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2024.
Funeral visitation will be held Thursday May 30, 2024, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque, TX from 5pm-7pm with Rosary starting at 6:30pm. Friday May 31, 2024 a small visitation will run from 10:00am-11:45am with Mass following at noon and burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, TX.
Sarah is survived by her mother, Julie Leyva (Jack), father Boyd Herrera (Imna), beloved partner Jacob Gorostiza and stepson Adrian, loving grandparents Frank and Irene Leyva and grandmother Rosie Herrera, sister Alexis Leyva, brothers Cameron and Noah Herrera and her stepbrothers; Daniel Jacob and Issac Gonzales, her aunt Amanda and cousins Diego and Bella Garza, uncle Nick (Beth) and cousins Mia and Emma Leyva, uncle Eddie (Amy) and cousins Joel and Ava Herrera.
Sarah walked into the Gates of heaven on May 24, 2024 holding hands with her great-grandmother Maria (Lita) Longoria who passed away 1 hour before Sarah. Sarah is preceded in death by great grand-father Reynaldo Longoria, grandfather, Robert Herrera, uncle Bobby Herrera, great grandparents Mary and Herman Alvarado, and great grandparents Juanita and Simon Leyva.
Sarah was a Special Education Teacher’s Assistant at Calder Road Elementary with Dickinson ISD where she was loved by her students; she also ran her own small business, The Happiest Place for Shirts. She took pride in her creations and was well known for having a quick turnaround with all of her patrons. On patriotic holidays and New Year’s you could find her running the firework stand coming out of Galveston.
Everyone knew Sarah to have a heart of gold, and she always made it a point to attend every major event and holiday for her friends and family. She was active in the community and always ready to help at a moment’s notice. Sarah truly lived her life to the fullest enjoying travel, concerts, and Astros baseball games. Sarah has touched the lives of all of us and her memories will live on forever in our hearts.
Pallbearers include Jacob Gorostiza, Ricky Perez, Garth Howard, Nick Leyva, Eddie Herrera, Jack Rios, Cameron Herrera, and Noah Herrera. Honorary Pallbearers include Godfather Michael Leyva, John Reyes, Adrian Gorostiza and Diego Garza.
Sarah, we miss you so much! I keep thinking you’re gonna show up in my classroom for another one of our many convos. I feel more at peace knowing you are with our Heavenly Father and watching over us all. CRES will not be the same without you. You are loved, missed and we will forever keep your memory alive.

Sarah was a beautiful bright soul and such an awesome woman. We are truly saddened by the news of her sudden passing. We are at peace knowing our beloved friend is with our lord Jesus Christ. Our condolences to the family of Sarah. She will be missed tremendously.
