Ruby Dolores Delgado

November 21, 1958 – April 1, 2025

Ruby Dolores Delgado, age 66, a cherished resident of Dickinson, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 21, 1958, in Pueblo, Colorado, Ruby was the beloved daughter of Juanita Reyes Lopez and John Eccolastico Martinez, and was lovingly guided through life by her father Pete Lopez. Her heart carried the strength, wisdom, and unconditional love of all three.

Ruby was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was found in her family—nurturing them with unwavering love, quiet strength, and a generous spirit that touched everyone she met. She worked as a cashier, known not only for her dedication but for her warm smile and kind presence. Ruby had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and cared for.

She was a woman of deep faith, and her relationship with God was a source of strength, peace, and guidance throughout her life. That faith shaped how she loved, how she served others, and how she faced life’s hardest moments—with grace, courage, and hope.

She loved the simple, sacred joys of life: walking barefoot along the beach, collecting seashells and bits of sea glass, listening to the ocean’s rhythm, and filling her home with music. The soulful voice of Johnny Rodriguez was often playing in the background, along with her cherished songs by Raul Malo and Michael Bublé—each one echoing her heart.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gloria Jean Greenwood (Kenneth); and her brother, Richard Martinez.

She is survived by her children:

Joseph Antonio Vallejos and wife, Leta

Michael Anthony Vallejos and wife, Melissa

Leonard Lee Delgado

She also leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren:

Eric Michael Joseph Vallejos

Laura Shannon Skylar Vallejos

Krystal Lynn Vallejos

Sara Mariana Star Vallejos

Lillian Rhiannon Vallejos

Alexander Michael Vallejos

Felicity Jean Vallejos

Oliver Daniel Vallejos

X’avier Anthony Lee Ayala

Her love lives on in her great-granddaughter, Kyrie Skye Barnett, whose life will forever shine with Ruby’s warmth.

Ruby beamed with pride over her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter—each one a treasure she held close to her heart. She loved them deeply, spoke of them often, and found her greatest joy in watching them grow, succeed, and shine.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings:

John Martinez Jr. (Beatrice)

Christina Foos (James)

Joseph Martinez

Loretta Pearce (Don)

Rosalie Burch

Mary Murray (Bill)

Ruby adored her brothers and sisters deeply, and the connection they shared was a lifelong source of strength, love, and laughter.

She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, each one holding a special place in her heart. She treasured the time spent with them—filled with laughter, love, and meaningful moments. To her, they weren’t just relatives; they were extensions of her heart.

Her smile could brighten even the darkest day—and it will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

In every seashell scattered along the shore, every glint of sea glass softened by the waves, every note of a song that stirs the soul, every quiet moment where love lingers longer than words— Ruby remains.

As one of her favorite songs gently reminds us:

“Remember the love we shared, the dreams we dared to dream…”

And we do. We always will.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort in the promise that life is still worthwhile…

“…if you just smile.”

Her smile was her gift.

And now, it is her light guiding us forward—

soft as the tide, strong as her spirit,

and forever shining from the shores of Heaven.
