Roy Dean Hammock
Roy Dean Hammock passed away on May 18, 2016, at the age of 74 after a long battle with COPD. Born in Thomaston, Georgia on December 17, 1941 to James Talmadge Hammock and Vivian Jackson Hammock, he was the oldest of five children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly Johnson Hammock, his daughter Adrianne Hammock Rathburn and her husband Bix and his son Tal Hammock and his wife Jennifer as well as a brother Mike Hammock and sister Cheryl Odom. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kate Beltson, Tess Hammock, Luke Hammock, Jack Hammock, Beth Jochen, Wesley Rathburn and his wife Jessica, Carl Rathburn, Mary Tittle and her husband Chris. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Hammock Nobles and his brother David Hammock.
Roy loved his family and lived a full life. He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and proud of his service as a Marine Corps aviator. After his military service, he worked for several companies and eventually retired from UTMB in Galveston. He was an avid Bridge player and a member of Mensa. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at 3:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home-Clear Lake located at 111 East Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas 77598. Internment will be on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the USNA Foundation, 291 Wood Road, Annapolis, MD 21402.
We love you Uncle Roy-you will be truly missed by many! Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Aunt Bev, Adrianne and Family, Tal and Family and to the rest of the Family also. We love ya’ll. Prayers from Terri, CB and Family.
It was an honor to have known Roy. He truly was a great American. The legacy of his wonderful family is a tribute to the kind of man he was. Much love and prayers for all of you.
