Rosemary Saracco Giamfortone

Rosemary Saracco Giamfortone passed away on August 5, 2024 at the age of 87. She was born on July 27, 1937 to George Joseph and Nora Menotti Saracco of Galveston. She spent over 60 years residing in La Marque, Texas where she and her husband Anthony raised their three daughters.

Rosemary was admired for her classy style, charming personality, love of God, wonderful friends and beautiful family. She was a graduate of Dominican High School in 1953 where she was a flag twirler. She was one of the Galveston Splash Day’s Beauty Queens.

Rosemary met the love of her life, Anthony Charles Giamfortone, at the age of 16 and they married after he was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1956. They were married for almost 40 wonderful years.

She embarked on her career in banking where she worked at First Hutchings Sealy National Bank in Galveston. She took a break to start their family and raise three wonderful and loving daughters.

She furthered her education and studies in finance at the University of Houston and College of the Mainland. She then continued her career working for Texas City National Bank, and retired as a Senior Loan Officer at Carbide Employees Federal Credit Union at the age of 50. She was loved by all.

Rosemary was a parishioner at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque where she was a member of Ladies Guild; Parish Council, and spent countless years serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Mass as well as for the homebound. She worked effectively on a team of tithing reconciliation for the church office. Rosemary spearheaded Queen of Peace’s 50th Anniversary, which was a beautiful celebration enjoyed by the parishioners, Bishop Joseph Anthony Fiorenza and many priests. She was an avid member of Crime Stoppers of La Marque; Christian Women’s Association; Hi Neighbor; she also participated in many church card parties throughout the years. Rosemary had a passion for working the elections for her community.

Visiting the casino with her family and friends; and playing bunko for over 30 years gave her much enjoyment. Her lifelong friend Joyce Whitehurst; special friend Lois Carelock and dear sister- in -law Mary Louise Giamfortone made many wonderful memories playing cards together.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her devout and loving husband Anthony Charles Giamfortone, parents George Joseph Saracco and Nora Menotti Saracco, brother John Joseph Saracco and wife Judy; sister-in-law Mary Louise Giamfortone and husband Andrew and beautiful daughter Toni Lynn Koneman.

She is survived by her wonderful and loving daughters, Cheryl Giamfortone Nolte and husband John G Nolte III (Tim), Sami Giamfortone Hartson and husband Gary Alan Hartson, son-in-law Kerry Michael Koneman, sisters; Georgia Meyer Barzilay and husband Ami, Dorothy Jane Nelson and husband BB, her grandchildren;  Kristen Huth, Kaycee Hodges and  husband Rick, Morgan Nolte Delapena and  husband Mario, Nicholas Ryan Nolte, Brock Anthony Hartson and Baylee Alyssa Hartson and great grandchildren; Sophia Castillo, Lauren Huth, Kiersten Spaw, Liam Spaw, Autumn Hodges, Levi Hodges and Dominic Mario Delapena.

Visitation will be from 9:00am-10:00am on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1224 Cedar Dr. La Marque, Texas.  Mass will follow at 10:00am with Msgr James B. Anderson officiating. A reception to follow the mass at the Queen of Peace Parish Life Center. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Kerry Michael Koneman; John G Nolte III (Tim); Gary Alan Hartson, Brock Anthony Hartson, Nicholas Ryan Nolte and Ami Barzilay. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Mario Delapena, George Saracco, Guy Nelson and Rick Hodges.

The family would like to especially thank Walt Crowder for his invaluable help; Andrea Wilson for her love and care; Caregivers Brenda Johnson and Tina Johnson for their continual love and support; Polly Johnson at Fresenius Kidney Care and Bim Crowder at Crowder Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1224 Cedar Dr. La Marque, Texas 77568.

Rosemary loved God, her family and her friends. “She will be forever in our hearts, gone but not forgotten” Rest in Peace Mom, Sister and Friend.
