Robert Vincent Grilli

ROBERT V. GRILLI passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, peacefully in his home in Houston, TX. He reunites with his wife Dorothy P. Grilli, sons William A. Grilli and James V. Grilli, and daughter Kathleen E. Grilli. He was born in New York, NY on October 31st, 1935 to proud immigrant parents Alphonso L. Grilli and Mildred A. Grilli.

He is survived by his daughter Amy Jelonek and her husband Frederick Jelonek, his son Daniel Grilli and his wife Cathy, and his younger brother Victor Grilli, as well as his grandchildren, Alicia Gandara, Amanda Stergianopolous, Elyse Grilli, Kathryn Gellerup, Alexandra White, Gabriella Grilli, Daniel Grilli, and Dominic Grilli, and great-grandchildren Jacobo and Sophie Gandara, Leon Stergianoplous, and Oliver, Vincent, and Otto Gellerup.

Robert was a former NASA engineer at the Johnson Space center, who worked on many Apollo Missions, including the first Lunar Landing, and the Space Shuttle Program, for which he received many awards. He was also a proud member of the US Navy who traveled the world before he met his wife while stationed in Florida. While raising their five children, he was also stationed in Alaska, California, and New York before finally settling in Clear Lake in 1972, to later raise his granddaughter as well. He will be fondly remembered as a generous man who loved to entertain and shared his wife’s passion for classic films.

Military Honors will begin at Saturday, August 24th, 2024 10:00 am at Crowder Funeral Home – Webster, followed by a service.

  3. I met Dorothy and Robert when I moved to Clear Lake at their wonder gift shop Dono’s. I always joked all the class I have I learn from Dorothy. After she got her wings, Robert and I stayed in touch and he would do some honey dos for me and we would visit for hours. Such a kind man, I will always remember his kindness! Rest easy my friend you made your make and your legacy is intact! Amy my deepest condolences you have been an awesome daughter, you know I loved your parents….the end of an era!

    Bob was such a wonderful friend and neighbor, I lived next to Bob for over 13 years.
    Bob brought such joy to all of us in the neighborhood. He was a caring and giving person and will be missed dearly. I regret that I did’t get over to see Bob last week.
    I loved taking him lunch or dinner. visiting with him at that time. He will be so missed!
