Robert and Diana Baker
Robert Marshall Baker, 70, passed away on November 25, 2014 in Texas City, Texas. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 3, 1944 to Elizabeth and Albert Baker. His loving wife, Diana Lynne Baker, passed away shortly after; on November 28, 2014. She was born in Galveston, Texas to Clara Mae and Robert Benson.
Robert and Diana are both preceded in death by their mother and father. They are survived by their son, Jeffry M. Baker and his wife Beverly of Pasadena, Texas, their three grandchildren; Kyle, Chelsea, and Allison, Robert’s brother; Bill Baker and his wife Jill of Greenville, Texas, and his sister in-law; Wendy Baker of Freeport, Texas, and Diana’s brothers; James Benson and his wife Debbie of La Marque, Texas and Wayne Benson and his wife Linda of Katy, Texas.
Robert attended Texas City High School, graduating in 1962. He served in the United States Navy for four years, after which he worked in Texas City at Amoco, Monsanto, and Sterling Chemical Plants. Robert enjoyed music, and played his guitar for many people around Galveston County.
A lifelong resident of Galveston County, Diana attended and graduated from Texas City High School in 1964. She received her Associates Degree in Art from the College of the Mainland in 1980. Diana was very passionate about her faith and was very giving to anyone she met, whether it was close family or a stranger.
A joint visitation, for Mr. and Mrs. Baker, will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. A funeral service will be held on December 4, 2014 at 10:00am in the Chapel at James Crowder Funeral Home, with Pastor James Benson officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas
We will miss Bobby and Dee so much. We have many memories of guitar-playing afternoons, their marriage, their move to California with the Navy, the birth of Jeff and so many more. Good friends, great people. Home now in heaven.
Diana …. I called you ” sister:…. I called you my ” beloved friend”. You are now at home in the arms of our blessed Savior. We will miss you both.
