Robert Brian Colello
Robert Brian Colello was called to God’s Heavenly Kingdom on August 18, 2022 after bravely battling several medical conditions for more than 30 years.
Bob was born in East Chicago, IN at St. Catherine’s Hospital on September 17, 1958.
He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.
Bob was a humble, quiet, and reserved gentlemen. He was very protective of his family and friends and although cliché, he would literally give you the shirt off his back. Bob was a giving and kind individual.
He grew up in a small midwestern town, Hessville, IN. Bob was an active and athletic child during his youth playing Hockey at Harding Park, skating on the outdoor rink for hours on end in the Winter. He also played Little League Baseball at Caldwell Field, playing for the Yankees. One of his favorite activities was playing Battle Ball every Saturday at the local Elementary School. He continued his athletic prowess at Morton Senior High School where he was a member of the Wrestling and Soccer teams, graduating in 1976. Bob also enjoyed playing golf and following his favorite Chicago Teams.
Bob’s best and lifelong friend Karl Kuhn was apart of his life for almost 60 years. Their friendship began at Warren G. Harding Elementary School and it continued through their time in Texas.
While in Texas, Bob was a master framer/sheet rocker and later worked as an Operator at Lyndell.
Bob loved working with his hands and was a masterful carpenter. He didn’t need written plans, all you needed to do was tell him what you wanted and he would create a work of art.
Bob adored his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His biggest smiles were had spending time with family and friends. Bob loved to cook on his “Green Egg” making fantastic meals for all who stopped by.
Bob was always the first one to wish you a happy birthday or call to check on you. He was the person you would emulate. He was a man of action and he treated everyone with respect.
Bob was a medical marvel, having more than the proverbial “Nine Lives.” He never complained or felt sorry for himself, he believed that God had a plan for him and he would follow it to the best of his ability. He enjoyed attending Mass with Karl at St. Bernadette’s.
He met his wife Katyia in 2003 and they created a loving life and family for almost 20 years. He tried to learn her language, however, he zeroed in on the words and sayings that would make most blush. That was Bob’s dry sense of humor, never with malice, but with the sly look of “do you think they heard me.”
Bob and Katya were inseparable and she was by his side every step of the way.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents John Colello and Doris Colello, and sister Marybeth (Goodmanson)
He is survived by his Wife Katya, his daughters Taylor and Macy Lamar (Kyle), his sons Austin (Sophia), and Vlad Colello, his sister Cathy Hauer (Pat), his brothers John (Dee Dee), and Steven (Laura), his grandchildren Ali, Brandon, Bailey, Myles, and Landyn, his nieces Stephanie Fletcher (Garrett), and Sarah Colello, Robyn Hauer , Jasmine Goodamanson, and nephew JohnPaul Colello, and former spouse Lisa Colello.
Bob’s earthly form may be gone, but if we mirror the lessons he taught us in word, deed, and action, his legacy will live forever in all of us.
A private Family/Close Friend Service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Crowder Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MD Anderson Children Cancer Center.

Thoughts and Prayers to the family. May time heal your heart and his light shine on in your soul. My thoughts and love to you Austin and Sophia.
Dear Bob, I met you and your first wife, Lisa. In fact, She was my best friend from 1971 to graduation in high school 1977. She was elected a school officer and a cheerleader. We both were were in student council and CYO. She could make me laugh and now sad. Today I see the variation in my emotions -how there are different kinds of laughs. I just can’t speak really anymore to type.
My best wishes to all the Colello family. I hope the children know how it is today
In Houston Astrodome and in Texas Stadium at the football playoffs, My friend Lisa and I would walk up to the press box where she gave the prayer over the Astrodome football games and then on to Dallas, at Texas Stadium. I wasn’t good with sentences I wrote my own little welcome words to say over the speaker. You all would have had butterflies way back then. She is so lucky with your children and so on.

God bless you Mrs. Colello.
