Raymond “Boompa” Allen Hawkins
Husband, Father, Coach, Mentor, Head Cheerleader and Friend. Born in LaMarque, Texas on October 4, 1956, Raymond was the son of Charles Hawkins and Mary Ann Hawkins. He grew up in Dickinson where he attended High School and met the Love of his life, Dianna Ruth Hawkins. They began their journey on October 28, 1977, and would go on to have two children, which in turn became Ray’s passion in life. A selfless man whose sole purpose was to give his family all he had with each breath. As life does, his path took a turn, being his five beautiful grandchildren, and yet again he found new ways to show love and compassion never dreamed possible. “Boompa”, as known by his grandchildren, embarked on his final journey to be with our Lord and Savior on February 6, 2014. Ocean tides could never wash away the imprints Boompa left on all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Dianna Ruth Hawkins, his son Ray Hawkins, Jr. and wife Lauren, their two children Addyson and Austin, his daughter Kaysie Jones and her three children, Jayden, Jaxson, and Gavin – and their father Josh Jones, mother Mary Ann Hawkins, brother Charles Hawkins and wife Judy, and sister Mary Ann Rogers and husband Jim. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hawkins. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. February 15, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Dickinson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in memory of Raymond Hawkins to the charity of your choice.
I knew Ray as a young man and he was so precious and wonderful. I remember when he met Ruth and they were the cutest couple. We lost touch quite a few years ago but I never forgot this adorable boy. God bless you and rest in peace. With Loving Memories, Aunt Bobbi.
