Patrick Joseph Garland III

Patrick Joseph Garland III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025 at the age of 83, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Born to Patrick Joseph Garland II and Evelyn Surginer-Sylvester, Pat was a BOI and lifelong resident of Galveston County and attended Kirwin High School.

An avid outdoorsman, Pat had a deep passion for hunting deer and birds. He found immense joy not only in the thrill of the hunt but also in training dogs to accompany him on his adventures. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Pat was a talented woodworker, creating everything from custom hunting bows and arrows, with his dear friend Billy Leach. His craftsmanship extended to, a testament of his dedication, skill, and patience.

Those who knew Pat will always remember his contagious laugh, which had a way of bringing joy to everyone around him, no matter the circumstances. His warmth and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Pat enjoyed a successful career with Sherwin-Williams and Marathon Oil, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring. He cherished the friendships he built throughout his career and often reminisced about the good ole days shared with colleagues.

Pat is survived by his devoted wife, Merle Garland and pet Reba, and his loving children: Joseph (Nancy), Curtis (Melinda), Sheila (Richard Reeves), Amy (Eugene Perez) and bonus daughter Carmen (Ronnie Mc Cormick). He was a proud grandfather to JR (Megan), Emily (John Murello), Kristin (Jackson Carrell), Heidi Protic, Lindsay Garland, Kimmy Keally, Kara (Gevin Tatum), and Marena McCormick as well as many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sister, Karen Roach, along with cherished extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Pallbearers will be Joe Garland, Curtis Garland, JR Garland, Richard Reeves, Eugene Perez, John Murello, and honorary pallbearers Jay Roach and Ernie Roach.

Pat Garland’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The Family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8:00pm with a Service at 7 o’clock at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573. A Funeral Mass will follow on Monday at 10:00am at St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church, 1612 East Walker, League City, Texas 77573 with Father John Rooney presiding.
