Ollief Adalene Jones Anderson

Ollief Adalene Jones Anderson passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025 at the age of 97, with family by her side.

She was born November 1, 1927, in Kurten, Texas, the youngest child of George G. and Nettie L. Jones.  Ollief grew up on her parents’ farm, moving to Houston with her family while in high school.  She married the love of her life, Arthur, on April 11, 1947.  They lived in Houston and Hempstead before moving to Galveston in January, 1958.

Ollief was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Anderson; sister Inez McGaughey & husband Joe, brother Herbert; and brother Charles & wife Dora Mae.

She is survived by three daughters: Sandra Gonzalez & husband Joe, Cecelia Bolton & husband Randall, and Kathy Marines & husband Edgar; 5 grandchildren: Christine Renfrow & husband Paul, Gary Marines & wife Courtney, Jennifer Marines & Justin Strait, Alan Bolton & wife Keri, and Derek Bolton; 4 great-grandhildren: Jake Marines, Abi Marines, Adalyn Cloyd and Emily Bolton along with numerous nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her bonus grandchildren: Robert Gonzalez, David Gonzalez, Lucy Williams, Joe Gonzalez, Jr., Leo Gonzalez, Debbie Hicks, and their families.

Ollief loved her family with her whole heart.  She was interested in and supportive of everything they did.  As much as she loved her three girls, it was nothing compared to how she felt about her grandbabies and great grandbabies.

Ollief’s family would like to thank the staff at UTMB-League City for their kindness and excellent care, not only to Ollief but to her family as well:

ER – Dr. Rumph and Jennifer.

4th Floor nursing and techician staff – Florie, Janette, Shelita, Ernesto, Sarah, Quentin, Megan, Ana, Lidia, Kathy, KC, Payson, Cristina, and UTMB Chaplain Vera as well as hospice staff.  We also thank the many others involved in her care whose names escape us.

We also appreciate Dr. Angela Shepherd and the staff at UTMB Family Medicine – Stewart Road for the care they gave her over many years.

Special thanks to Debbie and Reyna for keeping her “curly”.

To her former West End Baptist family and coworkers, you all held a very special place in her heart.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, from 4pm – 6pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 851 FM 517 Rd. W. in Dickinson, Texas.  Ollief will be laid to rest with her husband and parents on Sunday, February 9, at 1pm at the Reliance Cemetery, 6925 Reliance Church Rd in Bryan, Texas.

If you wish to make a donation in her memory, her favorite charities were Meals on Wheels and St. Judes.
