Olga Dickerson Dillard
1929-2016
We will dearly miss our mom, Olga Dickerson Dillard, aged 87, beloved mother of Carmen and Damon, son-in-law Dan Fahey and devoted widow of Raymond Dillard, who passed peacefully into Heaven on Wednesday April 20, 2016.
Olga was born in Washington, D.C. on February 10, 1929 where she grew up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and her parents, Philip and Mary Dickerson. She married Raymond Dillard on September 28, 1957 and had two children, Carmen and Damon. They were married for 29 years until Raymond’s death in 1986. She lived most of her life in Washington, D.C. and Cleveland, OH, with the last several years in Houston, TX.
Olga attended teachers college then began working as a clerk in the naval offices in Pittsburgh, PA where she met Raymond. They were married and moved to Cleveland where she worked and retired from the city of Shaker Heights. She enjoyed cultural events like musicals, reading mysteries, as well as travel to see relatives. As anyone who knew Olga, she never met a stranger, and she especially loved small children, hugging her grandkids every chance she could.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Philip Golden and Mary Magdalene (Cole) Dickerson, husband, Raymond Leon, sister, Elaine and brother, Philip. Her surviving siblings are sister, Geraldine Smith, sister, MaryAnn Quarterman and brother, James Dickerson. Olga is also survived by her son, Damon Dillard, daughter, Carmen Fahey (Dillard), son-in-law, Dan Fahey and three grandchildren, Damon Dillard Jr., Nicole (Nikki) Fahey and Ryan Fahey. In addition, she has four great grandchildren (Neveah, Izaiah, Malachi, and Journey) and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Crowder Funeral Home, in Clear Lake, TX on Tuesday, April 26th. The family will greet guests from 600 – 7:00 pm followed by the memorial service at 7:00 pm.
Damon, God bless you and your family.

Dear Carmen and Damen and your families, your Mom was such a special person. I always looked forward to seeing her because she always made feel special. She always wanted to know what was going on in my life and let me know that it was important. Her face would light up when talking about you. She had that ability to connect with people and to bring light to their lives. She loved fully and she loved you. I am glad she is with your Dad now. He was another wonderful person that left her too early. I miss them both and I miss you. You have my thoughts, prayers, and love. — Sheila
I send my deepest sympay. I am holding my dearest memories of both Olga and “Papa” close in my heart until I see them both in Paradise. With love and sorrow..
Carmen,Damen, and family: My condolences to you for the loss of your mom. During a time such as this, please know and believe that our ability to express our emotions with tears is a gift and God keeps track of each tear we cry. Psalm 56: 8 says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book” (NLT). But one day…we are promised (REV.7:17)..God “will wipe away every tear.” Thinking and praying for you. Michelle and Melvin
My loving sister Olga, our quiet easy-going family member, was loved by many. She was always present for us, with a smile and supportive words, no matter the situation.
Olga had many friends, but only a few were very close. She loved to keep her own company, and was just as happy to stay at home reading novels rather than being with a crowd of people. She was also a great napper, and could fall asleep easily with people talking loudly around her.
Her favorite dessert, when she was a child, was tapioca pudding and the rest of us five children knew that she believed that our mother made it just for her. She made that clear by eating most of it.
As children, we spent our summers on the water in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. She loved the country and always seemed refreshed and revived when we returned to Washington, DC at the end of the summer.
After high school, she went to Miner Teachers College, but teaching was definitely not her goal. After a summer of government employment, she decided to stay on. She loved the work and enjoyed having her own money. As usual, she was generous, even buying clothes for me when I was a poor college student.
I will always remember Olga as the kindest and most gentle person I knew. I loved her dearly and will miss her kind, sweet presence in my life.
God rest her and may we meet again one day.
MaryAnn

Damon, Carmen, and Family.
My condolences to you all. I would be remiss if not saying I regret not meeting Mrs. Dillard. However, I thank her for leaving me one of the greatest legacies she had. The wonderful man I’ll marry soon is a reflection of the rearing he received. I’m thankful for the wisdom, religion, chivalry, compassion, love, and care he shows me and others. His words, actions, and values provide me a mere glimpse into the remarkable woman Mrs. Dillard was.
Mrs. Dillard thank you for his rearing. Thank you for your son.
Rest peacefully and eternally.
