Myrtle Gillmore Casey
Myrtle Gillmore Casey died peacefully at home on December 5, 2023. She was born on December 18, 1921, in Galveston, Texas to Cecil Paul Gillmore and Leona Mary Henderson Gillmore.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter Patricia Casey Curtin. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Casey of Sneem, County Kerry, Ireland, her two sons, James Joseph Casey and Stephen Lee Casey, her only sister, Mary Virginia Burks and her only brother, Lloyd James Gillmore.
Other survivors include grandson Jimi Troy Casey and his two children Kannon and Kelly, granddaughter Angela Caroline Casey and her mother Ann Dresser, and daughters-in-law Gerianne Casey and Judy Steffens.
Myrtle was living in Galveston when she met and married Jim (Thunderbolt) Casey, a professional wrestler. She was a true partner in their many ventures – bars and nightclubs in the Greater Boston area, Massachusetts and Caseys Country Kennels in Dickinson, Texas.
Myrtle had lots of other interests. She was a long-time member in the Santa Fe Extension Homemakers Club and TOPS club of Santa Fe Texas. She loved cooking, sewing, travelling and enjoying a full life.
Myrtle and Pat shared a home until her death. She belonged to the Katy YMCA and enriched a new circle of active friends.
On Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas, there is a visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Funeral Service immediately follows at 2:00 PM. Interment at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
A Celebration of Myrtle’s Life will be held at a later date in the Katy, Texas area.

So sorry to hear of Myrtles passing. Sincere condolences to Patricia and all the family . She was a beautiful friendly lady. I used to meet her in the Restlers Inn when she came on holiday. Molly ,my Mother in law is still holding on to life. She’s in good form. May Myrtle rest in peace.
