Murray Lee Reid
Murray Lee Reid of Houston, TX, passed away on June 04, 2020 in Houston at the age of 74, with his family at his side. Murray was born on February 04, 1946 in Wichita, KS, to Wayne and Nellie Reid. Murray served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. He has been a 42 year resident of the Houston area and retired from Shell Oil Company as a Unit Operator.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Nellie Reid.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathy Reid; son Michael Reid; daughter Debby Reid; brother Johnny Reid; and grandchildren Kyle Konvicka and Abby Konvicka.
Murray, or Pop, as his family called him, taught himself to build computers, play guitar, and work on cars. There wasn’t much he couldn’t build, fix, or figure out on his own. He loved blues music, old western movies, and riding his Harley every chance, he got, but what he loved most was spending time with his family. He spent summers on long road trips across the scenic west coast with his wife, the love of his life. He never missed a Texas A&M game when his son was in the Aggie Band, or a chance to see his daughter dance at a high school football game. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren.
He was warm and protective of those he loved and had a sense of humor that made others want to be around him. His amazing will to live was noticed and admired by all who met him, including the doctors who treated him through the years. He will be greatly missed, but the lessons he taught, the impression he left, and the example he set will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and entire staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston for the many years of care, compassion, and cutting-edge treatments that added years to Murray’s life with his family.
There will be a graveside service for family on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the U.S. Navy along with the Houston V.F.W.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland, TX.
He was loved dearly by his family, we be missed, Love you Butch 💕💕
