MORRIS LYNN DAGERATH
MORRIS LYNN DAGERATH passed away on June 15, 2024. He was the son of Henry J. and Frances Kruger Dagerath. He was born in Coupland, Texas arriving on May 7, 1935, just in time for Mother’s Day.
Morris was a graduate of Taylor High School. He lettered four years in Varsity Football. He caught a calf in the Williamson County Rodeo calf scramble. He was awarded the Lone Star Farmer’s Degree. After graduating from Taylor High School, Morris enrolled at Texas A&M University, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Vocational Agriculture and a Teaching Certificate. Morris was selected as the first of five applicants at Bynum Consolidated School District. Later he was inducted into the U.S. Army completing Basic Training at Fort Carson, Colorado and then was sent to U.S. Army Intelligence School at Fort Holabird, Maryland to serve in the U.S. 4th Army Headquarters, San Antonio, Texas.
Morris was employed by Jefferson Pharmaceutical Company until 1972 when he joined the American National Insurance Company in Galveston, where he retired in 2000.
His survivors include sister, Virginia (Gin) Callanan; sons, Morris Dagerath, Jr., Michael Dagerath and wife, Jennie and Sam Caminade and wife, Giovanina; daughters, Lacy Dagerath Pena and husband, Scott and Brenda Dalton and husband, John and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Morris was a member of Highlands Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a Teacher, and a member of the choir. His most rewarding service was as Royal Ambassadors Director working with the young men and as Leader of the Nursing Home Ministry.
Morris also served as President of La Marque Rotary and President of Gideons, Mainland Chapter.
In his honor, there will be a visitation on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 10:00am, also at Crowder Funeral Home. Interment will be at 3:00pm at Coupland Cemetery in Coupland, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Morris’ name be made to The Gideons Galveston Mainland Camp A42120, PO BOX 84, La Marque, TX 77568.

It has been such a great pleasure knowing you and how much your family loves you and each other. I remember the 1st day I was introduced to you by Lacy was in your garden. The way your love shone for nature and for Lacy was an inspiration and so my own little garden thrives today because of you. My mom and dad are a little older than you and in reality it is their garden I took over. I get to them visit it often with them to talk of plants and more. Watching you with Lacy in your garden had me wishing for the same and so there it is. My mom and dad spend time in our little garden with me, just like you did with Lacy and I am all the better for it. I remember telling them about you, showing your stories and how approving they are about how your gardening tips inspired a deeper relationship with them. I’m gonna miss you. We all prayed so much for you and want you to know those prayers are extended to your family, too. For their best. Thanks for being our hero in a way and for showing what a loving family looks like. What a legacy of love Morris leaves. Love that is evident in his children and their hearts for others. Lacy; for one, exudes that love in her life and love for all thing furry. His gentle care of his family transferred to his care for his yard and I will never see a plumeria that Morris won’t come to mind. No greater life you can live, than to leave this world as he did. I loved seeing your dad when you would post him on IG he always had a bright beautiful smile . I didn’t know him personally but loved him as my own dad . His passing was so shocked because I had so much faith he was going to pull through , but God had other plans. I will miss seeing yoor dad’s smile on IG, but his smile, love will live on just like Harvey. He’s know with your beautiful mom and Harvey with God liking down looking after you and your family . I am so sorry to hear about your dad passing. I honestly enjoyed seeing him on your stories and how happy he was to see us!
