Minerva (Minnie) Nerios

Minerva (Minnie) Nerios passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, in Webster, TX at the age of 89. She was born December 31, 1931, in Galveston, TX., the youngest and sixth child of Rudolfo and Maria Fernandez. She was raised in Galveston and attended Ball High School. Minnie met Manuel Jr.  in Galveston and they were married on 12/29/51. They raised their family in Galveston and in LaMarque, then moved to League City, TX.

After her husband passed away, Minnie spent her time in the 1990’s and early 2000’s babysitting for numerous families.  She lived her last 42 years in League City.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents Rudolfo and Maria Fernandez, her siblings -Jovita, Rudy, Ernest, Dora, Ralph, and her husband, Manuel Nerios Jr.  She is survived by her sons Manuel and wife Cathy from Seabrook; Kenneth and Michael from League City; Jim and wife Kim from Birmingham, Alabama.

Minnie (Mimi) also leaves behind her grandchildren: Michele, Brian, Barry, Karly, Joseph, Brad and Whitney, along with three great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Regency Village and Faith Community Hospice for providing care for Minnie over her last 4 weeks.

Celebration of life services will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in League City on Monday, August 30,2021 at 10:00 o’clock.   1645 East Main Street, League City, TX 77573.

A graveside ceremony will follow immediately after the service at Mt. Olivet in Dickinson, TX.

The family is thankful for thoughts and prayers, and request that if you wish to do so, memorial gifts in Minnie’s honor be made to St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church ,1612 E Walker, League City 77573

  2. Dear Minnie, I remember riding the bus with my Mom, Lydia, to your wedding to my dear cousin, Manuel Jr. in Galveston. Our visits and then after Covid, our virtual conversations, were always a pleasure. You will always be in my daily prayers and heart. Rest in peace.
