  1. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time. Mildred was so special to me. I will always remember her wonderful smile and laugh.
When I sit down at my sewing machine I think of her and remind myself to not leave a pin in what I make or I might suffer the consequences. I did that once. When I demonstrated what I made in her class a pin was found sticking me in my lower back side. She laughed so hard as she rescue that foreign object stuck in the seam in between my jumping around the room. She got the biggest kick out of that.
She will remain in my ❤️ forever.

  3. So sad to hear Mrs. Hickman passed away, she was my teacher in high school and I always remember her fondly – lots of fun stories about her classes. I was also in the FHA group and was fortunate enough to take some trips with her. My thoughts and prayers are with her entire family, I know they have lots of good memories.

  4. One of my first friends when I moved to La Marque as a teacher right out of college. I didn’t know how to sew, so on my conference period I took sewing from Mildred. We have remained ‘forever friends” . She did so much for so many. You are in our heart always

  5. Mrs. Hickman was one of the first people to welcome me to Dickinson from my move from LaMarque, a very traumatic move for a Freshman. Her kind words will always stay with me. I took her class and she encouraged me to take a tailoring class which i eventually did. That extra push made me the seamstress I am today. Heaven is full of joy with Mrs. Hickman there. My deepest condolences to the family.

  6. Your sweet mom, Mrs. Hickman, was loved by all her students. She was one of the kindest ladies I’ve ever met. May sweet memories bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead.

  7. The times we had your sweet mom in our home, she always had a smile and a sense of humor to match it. She was a beautiful example of what a mother should be and we know she will be missed greatly by your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of loss.
