Michael J Maron
On July 8, 2023, the world lost a special man. God’s silliest goose, Michael (Mike) Maron, age 49, of League City, TX. took his last ride through his happy place, his hunting lease. Mike was a loving and devoted husband and father, and an avid hunter, fisherman, and brewmaster. Mike was an active member of the Gloria Dei congregation.
His family was his whole world. He loved life. His smile could light up a room. He was God-fearing and snake-fearing but afraid of nothing else. To Mike, a good day might be brewing beer or sitting all day in his tree stand waiting for a deer or hog to come into his sights. Or maybe he would be preparing for or participating in a Tres Dias event.
Survived by loving wife, Shannon; children, Haylea Shaneberger (Josh), Libby (fiancée Mark Dube), and Troy, mother, Leslie Maron, father, Mark Hansen (Cindy), sister Sarah Starkweather (Cory).
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, July 17, at 10 am at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 18220 Upper Bay Road, Houston, Tx. Reception at the church immediately following the service. Memorials preferred to Gloria Dei Endowment Fund.
Heaven received a warrior when it gained you. Our friendship will never be forgotten. Maybe your room in Jesus’ mansion will have a nice view of a cleared shooting line and that monster buck steps out everyday for you! Love and miss you Brother!
Deepest sympathies to the family. You were blessed with the best. Memories are forever❤️
God must have needed a big job done so he took Mike to get the results he needs.
I worked for Mike at GBR Marathon. A Great man that took time to know his people and give them what they needed to succeed. He would listen to his employees and care about what they said. I worked for a lot of area leaders through the years and He was the very best.
Praying so hard for you guys. I know no words do justice to how much pain y’all are in or how much Mike will be missed. Know you have so many people surrounding you with love.
Shannon, Haylea, Libby, and Troy; We pray for God’s strength and peace to fill you, His love to surround you, and His hope to lead you! We pray this in Jesus’ name. We love you and wish we could be there to hug and support you!

You are, and always have been the best part of me. You brought me laughter, tears, pride and joy. You always were my protector, my teacher, my confidant and my strength-a lot for a kid to handle, but you did it all!!!
I will always remember you walking ahead of me down the snowy sidewalks in Minnesota. You would check for any icy patches and warn me “not to step there” so I wouldn’t slip and fall-(my biggest fear). I loved watching you play baseball, softball and football, found joy in your sense of humor and marveled at the great man you grew up to be.
Just like your grandpa, you made friends wherever we went. If you were a stranger when you entered a room you had brand new friends when you left that same room. You skillfully managed to handle “public relations” for the two of us. You were patient and kind and giving. You loved unconditionally.
Now you are my guardian angel. My heart has grown infinitely bigger because you are in it. I will feel you close to me every day; feel your strength when I need to be stronger, your courage when I need to be brave, your wisdom when I need to be smarter and your love when the world implodes around me from time to time. Now you can look down on me and know I will be OKAY!!!
I cherish you always. You are my “son-shine”!!!
You were one of my favorites! Truly the kindest most understanding and funniest of souls! Your presence and friendship and giant bear hugs made a big impact on my life, and I’m grateful and blessed that our paths crossed! I know your happy and thriving in your full inheritance… because God is so so faithful and good! You will be missed forever! 💙
May God surround all with love and give you comfort and strength for today and in the future! I never got to meet Mike but know he was special and loved by many! I have heard so much about Mike from Cindy and Mark, my daughter and son-in-law. So very glad they were able to spend some time with all of you!
I saw Mike at Saint Paul Park refinery about a two months ago it was amazing to see him again yes, he did light up the room. I would have never thought that would be the last time I would see my dear friend. The world will never be the same without him. I’m very blessed to have known Mike through all the years. My condolences to the family and friends.
We loved our short time with Mike as a friend. We loved his spirit and cherished our time together. He will be truly missed. Blessings to his family as they navigate life without Mike their Anchor. We are praying for you all.
We are so very sorry for your big loss. He was a special guy that’s for sure. Condolences to his family and much love to Sarah who lost her brother after finding him not long ago
