Havard,  Ola Maurice Havard, 85, of Texas City, passed away peacefully at her home of 55 years on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.   Maurice was born on April 15, 1931, in Alto, Texas to Eunice Karen and James Leonard Selman. Her parents moved to Texas City in 1947 to seek work in the oil refineries and Maurice remained in Alto with her aunt to finish high school. On June 25, 1955 she married Don Havard, and in 1959 she left the lab to begin motherhood with the birth of their daughter Donna Kay.   In the late 1960s she worked as a cafeteria manage in various La Marque elementary schools. Following this she volunteered with the local mental health organizations, and returned to a laboratory position at American Oil in the late 1970s.   Maurice was a beloved wife for 60 years. She found great joy in her three grandchildren and six great grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Mamaw.”  She often amazed loved ones with her unique ability to recite key facts and dates pertaining to their birth and other life events.   Maurice was a member of the First Baptist Church in Texas City. She loved to collect sports memorabilia, Beanie Babies, the likenesses of both owls and cardinals.   Maurice was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Billy Don Selman Jr.  Survivors include her devoted husband Don Havard; daughter Donna Kay Havard Edinburgh and husband Lewis of Waco; grandchildren Allen Edinburgh of Texas City, Daniel E. Edinburgh and wife Mollye of Houston, and Theresa C. Hohman and husband Kenneth of Waco; her sister Dean Tomlinson of Angleton; brothers and sisters-in-law; Nub and Laura Selman of Texas City and Billy Don, Sr. and Patricia of Hemphill, Texas.  She leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews who called her “Aunt Reece.”   The family would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to A-Med Hospice and to Maurice’s faithful caregiver, Naomi Bryant.   A Visitation will be on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.  A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas with Rev.
