Mary (Melody) Nevins

Mary (Melody) Nevins, 84, passed away on August 1, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on July 12, 1940, in Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland, and was the youngest of twelve children. In 1958, at the age of 17, she immigrated to Chicago, where she met her beloved husband, Eugene Nevins. Mary found her greatest joy in Mishawaka, where she worked as a home health aide, providing care and compassion to those in need. A devout follower of the Lord and the Catholic Church, she lived her faith through service, supporting numerous charities and always helping those less fortunate.

Mary’s memory will be cherished by her daughter, Colleen (Mike) Mancuso; her sons, Robert (Jennifer) and Stephen (Jennifer) Nevins; her sister, Anne Munnelly; her nine grandchildren, McKenzie Nevins, Andrew Nevins, Julia Mancuso, Mary Kate Nevins, Emilia Mancuso, Anthony Mancuso, Mitchell Nevins, Shelby Nevins, Charlotte Nevins, and numerous family members and friends. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in all blessed to know her.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents Anthony and Annie (Quinn) Melody; her brothers Michael, Martin, Anthony, Patrick, Tom, John, Othan, Christopher, and Mark; and her sister Bridie Ruane.
