Mary Froebel
Mary Froebel, 80, of Texas City passed away at home on May 29, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born October 20, 1935 in Kilgore, Texas to Vernon and Kathryn Irwin.
Mary attended Alvin Junior College and University of Houston earning her degree in education. She taught elementary school at Santa Fe ISD, upon her retirement she loved to travel; she was a very active member of Memorial Lutheran Church. She was in the Altar Guild and a Volunteer at Mainland Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary and Senior Friends Program, upon her retirement she became a Golden Angel.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Michael Wall, brother Robert Irwin, sister-in-law Pat Irwin, brother-in-law Edwin Marek , brother-in-law and sister-in-law Melvin and Elaine Froebel.
Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Froebel, Sr. of Texas City; two daughters; Kathy Wall and husband Ciaran O’Byrne of Houston and Becky Davis and husband James of Texas City; two sons Jamie Froebel and wife Sue of Texas City and Mark Froebel and wife Susan of Dickinson; sister Elizabeth O’Connor and husband Claude of Ohio; brother Frank Irwin of Arizona; sister-in-law Patsy Marek of Bellville; nine grandchildren; Jason Froebel and wife Stacy, Jennifer Borth and husband Brad, Erin Wall, Brandon Froebel and wife Claire , Christine Froebel, Lindsey Grigsby, Taylor Grigsby, Matthew Davis and wife Brittany and Jake Davis and wife Tiffany; nine great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Kendal, Ewa and Sophie of Hallmark Hospice for their guidance, patience, and care for Mary and her family.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00am -11:00am on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Memorial Lutheran Church. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Memorial Lutheran Church in Texas City, Texas with Rev. Dr. Richard Kleiman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Memorial Lutheran Building Fund or Hallmark Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.
