Martin Reyna Nava
Martin Reyna Nava, age 58, doting father of four, passed away in the comfort of his home from health complications.
Martin was born on August 26, 1964, to Reynaldo Reyna and Simeona Nava in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. He pursued a Master of Science in Medical Entomology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Universidad Autonomo de Nuevo Leon where he became a lifelong fan of the Tigres soccer team. He moved to Texas to raise a family shortly after. In his years working for Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services, he authored and co-authored 47 publications on arboviral disease vectors and become the Technical Operations branch manager until retirement.
His hobbies included running and cycling, competing in marathons and traveling. Fitting of his outgoing personality, he enjoyed volunteering at the Houston Rodeo where he could don his ranchero roots. He was an avid traveler, particularly amongst the gorgeous beach towns of Mexico. He was also an 80’s rocker, attending concerts of the legends. He was a dedicated enthusiast of futbol, even coaching soccer teams for his kids when they were young. He was their number one fan in sports competitions and a proud dad of his U.S Marine son.
He has been described by friends as having a friendly warmth and a contagious smile. He was known as always being happy, authentic, and the life of the party. Through his life’s work and the legacy of his children, he will forever be remembered.
Martin was predeceased by his father in his early years of college. He is survived by his: children, Natalie, Valerie, Melanie and Alejandro Martin Reyna; his mother, and grandson, Lucah.
On Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Martin’s family will greet guest for a viewing, follow by a Funeral service at 7:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E. Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas 77598. On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 12-Noon family and friends will meet for the Graveside Service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8601 Almeda Genoa Rd, Houston, TX 77075.
