  4. My heart hurts for this lovely family. Knowing Marty is in the presence of his savior gives great peace; but, Marty’s servant’s heart and kindness will be so missed. He gets to be with his Momma whom he loved so much.

  10. Chief Wygant was always checking in on me even though he wasn’t in my command. This is such a sudden shock and he will be missed by everyone he’s come into contact with.

  11. It’s simply different without Marty. Certainly there will be such void this summer when we start playing again. Such a great man and a pleasure to he with. Marty always brought an ease within groups , and peace followed him. So kind, so gentle, and oh so generous whenever he came across a need. Marty was the #1 reason we were able to do basketball for VBS two consecutive years. I didn’t think we’d ever be able to do something like that until he came along. I still recall him sharing with me his eager heart to serve in ministry- in any role; he just wanted to serve. That’s the kind of brother he was in the kingdom. He was a solid basketball player; he really was. I can’t recall him turning the ball over- solid! It makes sense that both Joshua and Tyler are such outstanding players. I LOVED witnessing his relationship with those boys. What a great dad! Susan and family, my heart breaks for you guys and I’m just too sorry. Dee and I will be praying for the days ahead and standby.

  12. We were at the hospital the day Marty was born. We were Marty’s God parents and were with his family the day he was baptized. We were present at his wedding to Susan. And now, with grief, we share in the sadness of Marty leaving his family. Marty will be sorely missed and he will remain in our hearts always. Peace and love to his family. Rest Eternal grant Marty O Lord. And let light perpetual shine upon him.

  14. Marty attended our griefshare sessions a year ago to help deal with the loss of his mother. Now his death is the source of grief for others. I am moved by his faith and service. I know God is there for this extraordinary painful experience called grief. I hope Marty’s family and close friends can find help and support the way Marty did.

    • We are incredibly sad to hear of Marty’s passing. We made so many trips back that crazy driveway in Cincinnati to drop off and pick up our son (Chris Taylor). Years later we heard about all the crazy things the boys did and we’re glad we didn’t know then. Our memories of Marty are fond and lifelong. We are holding his entire family in our hearts and sending strength. Rest in Peace 😞

  18. Devastated me when I heard the news of someone who I truly look up to as a young man. With understanding love itself and just the “experience” of being able to come across such a pure and happy soul,Coach Martin I know this wasn’t how it was written but I just want to thank you for so much,The things you didn’t have to do was what made you so special. From starting a Phx Suns Rec team to believing in us to actually put your time energy and effort into what you love and it was us.TWE became something that we will always be apart of and our family will always be thicker than blood. You being there for me and my brothers was more than just a mentor, more than just a man that was in young black kids lives because you loved us like your own.I have someone on the other side that I never thought would come so early and it hurts so much to even think of that thought of you being gone.Forever will you live on.”BASELINE BOYS….IF YOU CANT PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL WHEN IT COMES TO BASKETBALL THEN IMMA PUT YOU IN HELL OF SHAPE FOR THE SUMMER”-(Marty Wygant).Wise Words from a very wise man.Forever will I scream your name.Until we meet again big dog I love you man rest easy..💔

  20. I served with Marty during his tour in Cleveland. He was an ambitious and dedicated member of the Coast Guard. His legacy will include all of the young people he had guided and mentored through his selfless service to others as a father, a Chief, a servant to his community and now a guide for all us who follow him into everlasting love. Marty we will miss you.

  21. I was shocked and saddened after hearing about Marty. He was one of my best friends in elementary school. As the cycle of life goes, everyone takes their separate paths. I had not seen or spoken to Marty in a long time, probably since his wedding. I am so grateful for the little bit of time our paths in life crossed. Rest in peace my friend. My condolences to his family.
