Martha Cornett

Our angel on earth Martha Cornett passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.  She was surrounded by her friends and family and she fought a good fight until the end. Martha was born on January 12, 1954 in Brownsville, Tennessee to Maynard and Josephine Hammond. She entered the workforce with Wal-Mart and remained a valued and loved employee for 42 years. Martha loved traveling and loved her little dog JJ. She was kind to all she met and always had a smile for them.

Martha is survived by her husband of 24 years Kenneth Cornett and by her sister Linda King of Newport, TN. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers Martha requested that donations be made to Bayou Animal Services at 3100 Deats Rd. Dickinson, Tx. or to any animal rescue organization.

  13. I just learned of your passing. You were my first friend in school when I moved to Munford and you made me feel like I belonged. Your parents were always so good to me and your wonderful Dad was always a great inspiration to me. He married me and my husband in 1974. I will always remember our weekend church events at Quito, having sleepovers and giggling about boys and sneaking in your Mom’s kitchen at 3 am to find a snack. You were my good friend, Martie and I’m positive you were a wonderful wife to Ken. Blessings to you, dear teenage gal pal….

  14. It’s been almost a yr and I think of you everyday. Always asking myself, what would Martie think & say about this. I’ve learned one thing since you’ve been gone: you were wise about so much. If I had one more conversation I would tell you I wish I’d said it sooner. Esp when you told me to try cruising. You’d be proud my sweet aunt, once again you were right. I miss you terribly 💜
