Margaret Jonell “Jo” Dial

Margaret Jonell “Jo” Dial, was born on August 17, 1939 in Algoa, Texas to Alva Edison Hoke and Connie Lee McCray. She passed away on March 15, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Thomas “Sonny” Hoke, and her son, David Edison Dial.

Jo was a long time resident of Conroe, Texas.  It was there that she raised her family, proudly supported the Conroe Tigers, and was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  After retiring, she lived in Galveston, Texas until moving to Pearland, Texas to be closer to family.

Jo loved God, her family, music and the beach – in that order.  She was gracious, kind,  generous and self-sacrificing, which is likely why she was adored by all who knew her. Jo had a beautiful singing voice and was an amazing cook. Most of all, she was an extraordinary mother.

Jo leaves behind her daughters: Teresa Darby; husband David, Sandra Dial, and Mia Magness; husband Richard; son James Dial, wife Kelli; eleven grandchildren,  eighteen great-grandchildren and countless friends.  She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.  However, her friends and family rejoice in knowing that in death, she is whole again.  She has joined her heavenly Father who no doubt welcomed her saying “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”

There will be a private visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas. A funeral mass will follow at Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood, Texas at 12:00 p.m.  All are invited to attend the funeral mass.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Jo’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
