Lois Blanchard Slawson
Lois Blanchard Slawson was born to Elsie and John Blanchard on June 1, 1941. Lois was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, John Blanchard, Jr., and her beloved son, David Clint Slawson. Lois is survived by her husband, Randalle Clint Slawson, the love of her life, her two beautiful granddaughters and their husbands, Jennifer Slawson Little & husband Ryan E. Little, Stephanie Slawson Wilson & husband Samuel C. Wilson and grandson Hunter Wells. These grandchildren were her sunshine. We cherish the many memories of her singing “you are my sunshine.” If you knew Lois, then you knew all about her grandchildren and her great granddaughter, Kaylynn Anne Wilson, “sweet pea.” She is also survived by her daughter in law Katie Slawson Wells, and husband Ed Wells, Jr., her sister Dorothy Splawn & husband Horace Splawn, her cousin Billie Ruth Sattler & husband Emmett Sattler, three brothers Dudley Blanchard & wife Betty, Robert Blanchard & wife Barbara, and James Blanchard & wife Barbara, her brother in laws Amos Slawson & wife Doris Slawson, and Jerry Slawson, and her sister in law Florine Robinson, and numerous special nieces and nephews. Lois was born in Woodville, Texas. She grew up in Texas City, and graduated from Texas City High School in 1958. Lois worked at College of the Mainland in Texas City. as the bookstore manager for over 20 years, where she made friends that lasted a lifetime. Lois enjoyed spending any free time that she had with her family. For Lois “family first” was more than just a saying, it was her life. The family wishes to thank all the family and friends that kept Lois in their prayers during her hospital stay, and the medical staff at Mainland Medical Center that worked tirelessly to keep her comfortable. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes foundation. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. thru 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the funeral home, with Pastor Kay Alewine officiating. . Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas.
