Lillian Anderson Tholcken Wood
Lillian Anderson Tholcken Wood, 91, of La Marque, Texas, passed away on September 13, 2017 in La Marque. Lillian was born January 22, 1926, at home in Galveston, Texas, to William Thomas Anderson and Sophie Meyer Anderson.
Lillian attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from the Ursuline Academy in Galveston, Texas. Her first job was as a secretary for the Electricians Union at the Labor Temple in Galveston. In 1956 Lillian along with her husband Edward A. Tholcken, Sr., founded Southwest Industrial Construction Corporation, which in 1984 evolved into Trey Industries, Inc. Lillian was President and CEO of Trey Industries upon her passing.
Lillian was a resident of La Marque for 68 years, before moving to Texas City in April 2016 to live with her sister, Jo Ann Horne.
Lillian had been active in the La Marque JayceeEttes, La Marque Rotary Anns, the B.P.O.E. Ladies Auxiliary and Board of Directors of American Savings.
She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque and St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. She was a life member of the Queen of Peace Ladies Guild and a member of the St. Monica Altar Group at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, William T. Anderson, Jr.; Richard H. Anderson; Robert M. (Tiny) Anderson; and Harry H. Anderson; and her God-daughter and niece, Janet Powell.
Lillian was also preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Edward A. Tholcken, Sr., and her second husband of 29 years, Robert G. Wood.
Lillian is survived by her sons, Ronald T. Tholcken and wife, Shelley, of Texas City; Edward A. (Sonny) Tholcken, Jr., and wife, Dawn, of Dickinson; and daughter, Melissa Tholcken Stevenson, and husband Ron, of Santa Fe; and step-daughter, Robin Wood of Houston.
She is survived by grandchildren, Cody Tholcken and wife, Angela; Kelly Tholcken Anderson, Brittany Gilbert and husband Chris; Austin Wheeler and Kara Wheeler. Also survived by great-grandchildren, Marley Tholcken, Van Tholcken, Chase Anderson, Shayne Anderson, Jiles Gilbert and Remi Gilbert.
Lillian is also survived by her sister, Jo Ann Horne, of Texas City and many loving nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. A Vigil Service and Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Joe Hensley.
Lillian’s funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City, 1604 Ninth Avenue North. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Richard Anderson, Jason Delgado, Bobby DeSanto, Chuck Horne, Shelby Powell, Gerald Robinson and Cody Tholcken.
The family would like to thank the A-med Hospice and Right at Home as well as family and friends that served as personal care givers.
