Lewis Stephenson Milutin, Jr.
Lewis Stephenson Milutin, Jr., born on October 31, 1939 in Galveston, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025 in League City, Texas, at the age of 85. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose memories will be cherished by all who knew him.
Lewis was married to his loving wife, Carolyn, for 62 years, sharing a life full of love, adventure, and devotion. Together, they raised two daughters, Missy and Dianne, who were the center of his world. His love and dedication to his family were evident in everything he did, and he was immensely proud of his three grandchildren—Katie, Maggie, and Jack—who brought him great joy.
Lewis leaves behind to treasure his memory, his wife, Carolyn, daughters Missy and Dianne and husband Jeff, three grandchildren Katie, Maggie and Jack along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Born to Lewis Stephenson Milutin, Sr. and Nancy Milutin, Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Mary Catherine, and his brother, John. Though he will be deeply missed by his family, his spirit continues to live on in the memories and stories they share.
After graduating from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas in 1957, Lewis proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1962 through 1965. During his service, he was stationed in various locations including Greenville, South Carolina, Albany, Georgia, Papua, New Guinea and Korea. His time in the Air Force shaped his life, instilling in him a sense of discipline, service, and dedication that carried through all his endeavors.
Lewis had a long and distinguished career as a medical photographer at Shriners Burns Hospital, where he worked from 1965 until his retirement in 2008. Throughout his 43-year career, he touched the lives of many patients and co-workers through his kindness, and expertise, helping document and preserve countless medical advancements for the children who sought world class burn care.
Outside of his work, Lewis had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing, which brought him peace and joy. He was also an avid sports fan, passionately following Houston’s sports including the Houston Oilers, Houston Texans, and Houston Astros, as well as supporting Texas Tech, University of Texas and the Dickinson Gators. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he loved watching sports with family and friends. Many memories were made when he and friends cheered on the Dickinson Gators under the Friday night lights. In addition to his love for sports and nature, Lewis enjoyed solving crosswords, a hobby that kept his mind sharp and brought him satisfaction. He also took great pride in making his mother’s famous fruitcake recipe, a beloved tradition that brought joy to many, with friends and family often asking for his special fruitcakes during the holidays.
A man of integrity, generosity, and humor, Lewis made an impact on everyone he encountered. His legacy as a devoted family man, a dedicated professional, and a compassionate human being will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
In his honor, there will be a visitation on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:00am, also at Crowder Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children or a charity of your choice.
Rest in peace, Lewis. You will be forever loved and never forgotten.
I am blessed to have so many wonderful memories working with Lewis for 18 years. From our fun lunches to just hanging out in the photography department with Tina and Roland, laughing and cutting up. To me, Lewis was always such a distinguished gentleman, always kind, and a great friend. He will be missed by so many. RIP Lewis.❤️
