Leona M. “Lee” Jared
Leona M. Jared, 99 years old, sadly passed away on March 30, 2024, in League City, Texas. She was born on March 25, 1925, in Long Beach, California.
“Lee” grew up in Southern California with her sister and parents. As family, they were able to spend time on the beautiful beaches as well as visit extended family in the California hills. While working as a draftsman for an aerospace company, she met and married her husband, “Lou”. After having three children, they moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida and then to Houston, Texas where the family has resided for almost fifty years.
Leona was a caring mother and wife. She was a talented artist as well as a founding member of the Houston Calligraphy Guild. She loved gardening, cooking, travel, and genealogy.
Leona is preceded in death by parents Bessie and Faye Merrell, husband Louis A. Jared; son, David Jared and sister Dolores Merrell. She is survived by her children, Melissa and Leslie.
We will always see her in the white fluffy clouds that she loved to paint.
Per her wishes, there will be no service at this time.
Rest in Peace. I own a beautiful oil painting by Leona and have always cherished it. I wonder if there is more of her artwork available anywhere, like a gallery? I’m sorry to her family for her loss.
