La Verne Melody Schultz
La Verne Schultz passed from this life on September 21, 2017 at Regent Care in League City. She was born on March 13, 1934 in Galveston, Texas to W.K. and Clara Stevens. She loved her family, especially her grandsons and of course, her Dallas Cowboys. She spent many Sundays cheering on her beloved Cowboys with her family.
La Verne lived most of her life on Galveston Island and moved with her husband to Santa Fe to care for their horses. She attended school in Galveston and was a 1953 graduate of Ball High School. She worked as a library clerk at Stephen F. Austin Junior High School in Galveston for 18 years. She was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Galveston and a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dickinson.
La Verne is preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald B. Schultz, Sr., parents W.K. and Clara Stevens and brother, William. La Verne is survived by her daughter Nancy Schultz – Robertson and husband Lanny of League City, sons Ronald B. Schultz, Jr. and wife Susan of Santa Fe, Barry Schultz and significant other, Wanda Robinson of Santa Fe; her grandsons, Ronald “Blythe” Schultz, III and wife Kaitlyn of Ames, Iowa and Colton Schultz of Santa Fe; sisters Eula Mae Piangenti, Shirley Giusti-Tomme and husband Jimmy, Lois Walker and Gloria Hansen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
La Verne’s family will receive visitors on Friday, September 29th beginning at 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at James Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 30th at the funeral home with burial following the service at Galveston County Memorial Park in Hitchcock. Pastor Richard Rhoades of the First Lutheran Church in Galveston will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Lutheran Church in Galveston.
