Keith Dean Hancock
Keith Dean Hancock passed away from this life peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, July 14, 2022 in Sweeney Texas. Keith was a hugger, a gift to all of his family and friends from God. Keith was survived by his family, Marlene Jones, husband Benny, Elton Hancock, Marshall Hancock, wife Sheryl, Karl
Hancock, wife Danna, Martha McCoy, husband Jeff, Sharon Grace, and Paula Sneed Jones. Keith was preceded in death by his father John Hancock, his mother Pauline Hancock and brother-in-law William (Bill) Jones. Keith was born in La Marque, Texas on October 30, 1955 with twin brother Karl Hancock. Keith was born with Down Syndrome. His parents never wanted him to be treated any different than his other siblings. Keith attended Lakeside Elementary in La Marque, Texas. During his time in school he learned about Elvis Presley. His mother entered him into a contest, where he was dressed up as Elvis and he performed his favorite song “Jailhouse Rock”. Needless to say Keith won first place for his performance. Afterwards, he worked at the Sunshine Center for mentally challenged people. His parents raised him faithfully in church where he learned to preach and sing using his microphone (which was a round stick). He would preach in the backyard expressing his love for Christ, often we would see him doing forward rolls, cartwheels and shouting like the evangelist he listened to so often. After his parents passed away he attended facilities for the mentally impaired. He continued to preach and sing wherever he went. He touched so many hearts with his never ending love and compassion for people. He always had to shake your hand and give you a hug. He was truly an Angel sent from God to always shine his light. This was his purpose. The family would like to express their thanks to the facilities that took care of Keith, SweetBriar Facility, Educare Program, but the BEST place of all was with SWEENEY HOUSE. We are so thankful to the nurses, the aids and the staff for giving and taking such good care of our brother, Keith. We cannot thank you enough for all the out pouring of love that you shared. A service will be held at 10:30am Monday, July 18, 2022, at Santa Fe Christian Church, 13602 FM1764, Santa Fe, TX.
Keith was a Blessing to everyone. May God comfort and give peace to all that lives and knew Keith!❤️
