Kathryn Euel Sanders
Kathryn Euel Sanders, 84, a resident of Dickinson, Texas for 56 years, passed from this life on November 13, 2021. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana at Barksdale AFB on July 17, 1937 to Harry Lloyd and Euel Eugenery (Riley) Harbin (d. 1943), and lovingly raised by mother Betty Harbin.
She was preceded in death by her mothers, father and son, Mark Sanders.
Following the death of Euel in 1943, Harry married Betty Linxwiler, who soon gave birth to Kathryn’s new sister and lifelong best friend Jean. Kathryn was an adoring sister and created a magical childhood full of enchanting stories and imaginative play for Jean as she was growing up.
As a teen Kathryn first met her knight in shining armor and “fly guy” Raymond. He was taken by her beauty and she quickly became his beloved “Moon Maiden”. They married in 1955 in Alexandria, LA, and eventually settled in Dickinson, TX.
Kathryn dedicated her life to her family from the beginning. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She delighted in each one and spent countless hours playing games (though never checkers) with them, reading to them and most of all giving them the gift of her warm smile and loving arms.
In all of her relationships she brought joy and light. Through trial and tragedy, she did not despair, but fought through with dignity and grace.
She was an artist and creator and collector of beautiful things. She read voraciously and had a thirst for knowledge.
She was truly a unique person. No one who met her could leave without recognizing that fact. While it would seem she leaves a deep hole in the universe, she has given so much of herself to so many, and she surely lives on in all whom she has affected, through many generations to come.
Kathryn leaves behind to cherish her memories, loving husband Raymond ; son Scot Sanders (Veronique); daughter, Karyn Medley (Keith); son, Bret Sanders (Laura) ; sister, Jean Baremore; grandchildren, Jeremy Sanders (Jordan), Dustin Sanders, Heather Medley Peel (Michael), Ryan Medley, Alec Medley, Emily Sanders Dame (Adam), Lauren Sanders Chandler (Eric), Natalie Sanders, Claire Sanders, Norah Sanders, Isaac Sanders; and eight great-grandchildren, Benjamin and James Peel; Nathan, Ellie, and Tucker Dame; Mark, Michael, and Myles Chandler.
In her honor a visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel in Dickinson, Texas. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 12:00 pm, also at the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel.
Honored pallbearers are Dustin Sanders, Scot Sanders, Bret Sanders, Alec Medley, Ryan Medley, Jeremy Sanders, and Isaac Sanders.

Billy Sparks and I (Suanne McNeel Sparks) are so sorry to hear of Mrs. Sanders passing. Billy was best friends with Mark. The three of us graduated from DHS in 1977 and we all went to Southwest Texas (now Texas State). Billy and I vividly remember Mrs. Sanders as always being very kind to us when we were at their home in Dickinson.
Kathryn was a beautiful and gracious woman who radiated warmth, love and humor. Once she and I picked up our daughter Lara from Kindergarten. Lara had drawn a picture, and Kathryn spent a good 20 minutes asking Lher questions and talking to her about her picture. That was a memorable picture of how I think of Kathryn, so genuinely interested in the other person’s perspective. Although I haven’t seen her in many years and only talked with her a couple of times, this beautiful picture of her with those gentle brown eyes is the image of her I will keep in my heart. Love you forever, Kathryn.

Thank you for the privilege of participating in the service today for Kathryn even though I am thousands of miles from Dickinson. I treasure many happy memories of time spent with Mrs. Sanders and her wonderful family during my growing up years in Dickinson. May God be with you, Raymond, Karyn, Scott, and Bret and your families. May you know His great peace and comfort in the coming days. With my love and prayers.
