Juanita Flores Gutierrez

Juanita Flores Gutierrez, 97 of Humble passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

She was born on May 6, 1925 in San Angelo, Texas to Nicholas and Francisca Flores.

Juanita was formerly a resident from Galveston and La Marque, a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Community and was a Hairdresser. But her story does not end there. She was also a nursing assistant, a beautician that once owned her own beauty salon, a seamstress and tailor, creating beautiful clothing, a rehabilitation specialist who contributed greatly to the head injury patients at the Transitional Learning Center in Galveston, Texas. Her many talents included gardening, quilting, knitting, cooking, and various arts and crafts. She was compassionate, wise and kind. Strict and determined when necessary. Courageous in the face of the many hardships throughout her life. But her most outstanding quality was the wonderful loving care she gave all her children and family. What we will always remember and know in our hearts is that she loved us deeply.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Gutierrez, son Phillip Rodriquez, her brothers Arthur Flores, Gilbert Flores, Tony Flores, and her sister Virginia Silos.  Juanita is survived by her sisters, Josephine Bernaldez and Maria Guerrero, and three daughters: Alice Robledo, Brenda Townsend (Allen) and Betty Martin (David) and son Benjamin F. “Ben” Rodriguez-Castinado, nine grandchildren: Toban Robledo (Julie), Nina Rodriguez-Castinado, Naya Rodriguez-Castinado, Amanda Jimenez-Soto, Tessa Travitz, Rachel Travitz, Debbie Barrett (David), Wayne Dorsett (Jenny) and Bobby Dorsett, numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

As per her wishes there will be no services.  Arrangements are under the direction of James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque.

  1. I always knew her as “Grandma Janie”. We played dominoes with her and Grandpa Ray, ate several meals with them, laughed often, and always enjoyed being with them. Their love for one another was contagious and made all around them feel their own special feelings. We love you Grandma, we miss you, and you will be with us until the end of time.

  4. Loved my Auntie Janie. She was such a wonderful auntie. I will always remember all of those clothes she would give me when I was a little girl. These where the dresses she made for Alice and Alice had outgrown them. My aunties craftsmanship was impeccable. Her talent for sewn items was an art. In fact, I entered one of her blankets into an art show which was accepted and displayed at a quilt show a few years ago here in Lubbock, TX. I proudly announced to all that it was my auntie who had made the quilt! Thank you for all of the lovely memories you shared with all of us throughout the years. You’re in our Heats forever.

  6. No words can express how sad we were to here the news of you passing but I feel so honored that you chose to call me not too long ago and give me your sage advice over the phone and to reassure me that you had done the very best that you could in life. you wanted to make sure that you had not in any way offended me or hurt my feelings and I assured you absolutely not that you were always one of my great rocks and supporter in my life. I can never thank her enough for all the help she gave me with my mom when she got so ill before she passed and our Entire family thought of her as an Angel that helped us during that time. Please know that we all Love and miss you and you will be in our prayers always. Rest In Peace my dear Aunt 🙏🙏🙏🙏💕❤️
