  2. It is with a deep sense of loss I send my condolences to the family of Josie Melia. I worked with Josie 20 years at the VA & stayed in contact with her long after she retired. Josie loved her family so much. I always knew when a baby was going to be born, someone was getting married, someone was graduating, when there was going to be a family reunion or anything important was happening. If we went anywhere in public, she always ran into someone she new. I asked her once if she knew everyone in Houston. For years, I remember she & Felicia Virgidamo & the attorney from Regional Counsel at VA made the Italian cookies between Thanksgiving & Christmas. She was called the “bag lady” by some at the VA because she was always carrying her Avon bags & she was loaded down. She was hilarious & I loved her dearly. May God Bless your family at this difficult time.

  10. Dearest family of Josie,
I met your sweet mother when she moved to my street about 7 years ago. We became good friends and neighbors, so her passing away makes my heart hurt; I am so sad, sorry for her loss. Josie was a kind and loving person, not afraid to show her concern for the neighbors. She invited me to sit on her bench on July 4th and watch the fireworks light up the sky. I will always remember her sweet smile as she delivered some Avon products to me over the years. She loved each and every one of you so much.
So I send my deepest condolences to each of you. May Josie’s soul rest in eternal peace.

  11. You didn’t have to know Ms. Josie to know she was a remarkable woman with a remarkable influence among all those she knew. As a friend of the family and a VA employee, her spirit reaches far and she will be missed. I hope for peace for her family during these times and I know she is smiling from the Heavens at you with her beautiful smile.

  12. So sorry for the loss of your dear mother. Josie was a beautiful person. I worked with her at the VA for many years and wished I had stayed in contact with her after our retirement. She was very proud of her daughters and spoke of y’all daily. I feel like I know each of you. So sorry I could not be there for her service today.
