“Bubba”

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Johnathan Thomas “Bubba” Porter, Bubba set sail on his final voyage on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the tender age of 18.

Born on October 2nd, 2005, Johnathan was a boy with an unyielding imagination and a heart as vast as the seven seas. From a young age, he was captivated by stories of daring buccaneers and hidden pirate treasures. After years of practice he became an expert sailmaker. He handcrafted sails of all kinds for the fierce pirates on the waters including the infamous Black Pearl for Captain Black Beard himself! With a trusty wooden sword in hand and a bandana tied around his head, Bubba led his crew of friends and family on many adventures.

He is survived by his loving parents, Jeanette Porter and John Porter; his hero and first mate, his big brother, Christian Burcham (Catherine), and his grandmothers, Terry Walker and Lidia Porter who indulged his pirate dreams with endless love and support. He is proceeded in death by his grandfather’s. Bubba’s spirit will also be dearly missed by his extended family and many friends, who were often swept up in his imaginative tales and songs.

Though Johnathan’s voyage through life was far too brief, his legacy will forever be a treasure in the hearts of those who knew him.
