John Larry Cook
John Larry Cook, 73, of Texas City passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2022. He was born on June 12, 1949, to John and Ethel Cook in Galveston, Texas.
John lived most of his life in Galveston County. He joined and then ran the family business, John’s Beauty College, Texas City, and was instrumental in growing that business to a second location in Galveston. John was always a Jokester and loved to entertain people with his stories. He loved the water and enjoyed boating, water sports and fishing. He was an avid cook and was well known for his Cajun dishes. In his later years, John took up gardening, growing many varieties of Hibiscus. He was a proud member of the Hibiscus Society.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his youngest son, Jonathon Clark Cook, and his sister, Cynthia Cook. He is survived by four sons, J.D. Cook (Michelle), John Henry Cook, Steven Michael Cook (Pam), and Joshua Cook (Kelly); two daughters, Jacqueline Ryan (Stephen) and Jodi K. Scott (Anthony); 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
There will be no public service. The family will celebrate his life privately.
