John Kasey Barkmann
John Kasey Barkmann, 60, of Dickinson, Texas, passed away September 17, 2023 in Eads, Colorado. Born on November 14, 1962, in San Diego, California to Karl and Nelda Barkmann. He has been a proud Dickinson Gator since the age of 10 when he moved with his family to Dickinson from Alabama. Dickinson is where he would live out the rest of his life, where he made his family, and his home. He spent many years working in the plastics plant industry, and for the last 10 years has been a long haul truck driver. Which allowed him the opportunity to see the best and most interesting parts of the United States.
Kasey’s greatest accomplishments in his life were being a partner to Kim, a father to John, Katy, and Charles, and a grandfather to Ava, Kase, Barrett, Court and his fur grandbabies. If he was home you could find him at one of the houses rolling on the floor, playing trucks, tractors, and dress up with the babies. He loved his kids, but his grandbabies had his heart. He would often say I get along with kids so well, because I still feel like I am a kid… a big one, but a kid nonetheless. Kasey’s heart grew bigger with the birth of each of his children, and the births of his children’s children. Grandpa was his name and spoiling was his game.
Kasey is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Karl and Nelda Barkmann. His brother Kelley Karl Barkmann. His in-laws Charles and Roberta Barnett.
He leaves behind his loving fiancé and partner of over 20 years Kimberly Mayfield Hoskinson, his children John Gregory Barkmann & wife Ashley, Katherine Claudia Barkmann Carreon & husband Drew, and Charles Everett Barkmann & wife Kati. Grandchildren, Ava Katherine Carreon, Kase Andrew Carreon, Barrett Ray Barkmann, soon to be Court Karl Barkmann, and his fur grandbabies Frankie, Marley, Foxie, Francie, Bubs, and Hank. Former wife and mother of his children, Charlotte Barkmann Jones. Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Richard and Betty Mayfield. Step-children Amy Mayfield Vance & husband Bryan, and Matthew Hoskinson. Step-Grandchildren Lucas and Camille Vance. Siblings Stephen Barkmann, Karla Barkmann Glova, and Ronnie Barkmann Ynosencio. Several brothers -in-law and sisters- in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Kasey’s wish is to be cremated and have his ashes spread in the same field of roses and bluebonnets where his parent’s ashes were spread. The family will have a memorial service to honor the memory of John Kasey Barkmann at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas on October 14, 2023 from 10 AM to 12PM.
Kasey often said that he did not want people to remember him with sadness. He wanted you to remember the happy times you had with him, where he was making jokes or pulling pranks on you. He would like for everyone to have a drink in his honor and toast to a life well lived.
